Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Commonwealth Bank Group’s relationships with major corporates, banks, non-bank financial institutions, government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services. IB&M Risk Management is responsible for the oversight and risk management of IB&M’s activities in Australia and internationally.

This role sits within the Risk Management function of Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M), providing strategic oversight and leadership for CBA’s client securitisation portfolios. As Head of Securitisation Risk, you will lead the strategic oversight of credit risk across warehouses, trading and investment portfolios. You be responsible for the performance and development of a team of team of securitisation risk specialists.
The role is expected to contribute to broader Risk Management strategic initiatives, including the adoption of AI to enhance customer experience, risk management insights and process simplification.
Your day could look like (but not limited to):
Provide strategic credit risk advice and decision-making under Personal Credit Approval Authority, ensuring ensure credit risks are appropriately managed, measured, and monitored.
Collaborating with senior stakeholders to shape credit risk appetite, policies, and tolerance limits.
Providing expert guidance and challenge on complex credit transactions and concentrations.
Developing the securitisation credit risk team – both in terms of capability and personal aspirations.
Supporting the development of practical and effective credit risk frameworks, tools, and analytics.
Leading initiatives to improve processes and enhance transparency across institutional portfolios.
Representing the bank in industry forums and engaging constructively with regulatory stakeholders.
Offering guidance and support to both Line 1 and Line 2 teams, encouraging shared accountability.
Upholding a team culture that values technical excellence, interpersonal growth, and shared success.
Leading the creation and refinement of credit risk metrics, tools, and analytics to support proactive portfolio oversight.
Driving large-scale credit risk initiatives and process improvements to enhance efficiency and governance.
Acting as the bank’s representative in industry governance forums and regulatory engagements.

Additional requirements we’re looking for:
Extensive experience in credit risk decisioning within institutional banking, with a specialisation in securitisation.
Deep understanding of structured credit, securitisation markets, and financial institution risk.
Proven senior leadership within institutional securitisation, with a strong understanding of risk frameworks and portfolio management.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across internal and external audiences.
Skilled in quantitative techniques and data-informed risk analysis.
