We’re seeking an inspiring and dynamic leader to join our team as the Head of Projects - ANZ, reporting to the Vice President for Project Management APAC. You will be responsible for:



Overview of the Opportunity

  • Leading and managing the delivery of projects across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring successful outcomes through collaboration and a supportive, team-driven approach. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams in both Australia and APAC, always striving for excellence and mutual growth.
  • Directing both short- and long-term resource planning with functional teams to guarantee that projects are delivered with high quality, safety, and efficiency, while fostering an environment that nurtures leadership development and team growth. You’ll create and manage budgets, drive organizational improvements, and ensure projects are executed smoothly.
  • Taking full responsibility for the P&L across all Fluence projects in Australia and New Zealand, ensuring that every project is completed safely, on time, and within budget while meeting the highest standards of customer satisfaction.
  • Engaging in complex stakeholder management with a focus on collaboration and clear communication. You’ll lead by example, offering guidance to the project management team while collaborating with cross-functional teams across the region.
  • Fostering strong relationships with customers, suppliers, partners, and senior management to ensure projects meet quality and delivery expectations from start to finish.
  • Contributing to continuous business improvement efforts, working closely with the Australian Leadership team to align operational goals with strategic objectives. You’ll also support Sales teams in project development and tendering to ensure we meet customer needs and procurement timelines.
  • Managing risk and promoting lessons learned to help refine processes and drive ongoing improvements in how we deliver our projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with Fluence’s internal protocols, supporting audits, and taking action where necessary to keep projects on track.

What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence?

  • A degree in a relevant technical discipline (such as a state-certified technical engineer) and at least 10 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, with a minimum of 5 years in a Project Director role, including experience in electrical subsystems.
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or an equivalent qualification.
  • The ability to build and nurture strong teams, supporting others with guidance and mentorship to deliver complex projects with a focus on excellence and mutual respect.
  • Experience in the renewable energy sector is highly desirable, particularly in areas where collaboration and people-focused leadership are key.
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, able to motivate, influence, and resolve conflicts in a calm and supportive manner.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities with a passion for fostering long-term, supportive relationships both within the team and with external stakeholders.
  • The ability to balance priorities across multiple business units, using your strong organizational skills to meet objectives while maintaining a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • A self-directed individual who thrives in fast-paced environments and is comfortable with autonomy, while always considering the needs of the team and the greater company.
  • Proven experience in project management, with a track record of success in creating and managing integrated project timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Project) and the ability to adapt to other tools as necessary.
  • A collaborative spirit who values open communication, shared problem-solving, and building trust within the team and with clients and partners.
