Head of Platform Engineering

As the Head of Platform Engineering, you will lead the architecture, development, and ensure a seamless path to production for our new derivatives trading platform. Supported by a dedicated team of developers, engineers, and project management professionals you will focus on ensuring the platform is optimised for low-latency performance, scalability, resiliency, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and architecture of the derivatives trading platform to ensure scalability, low-latency performance, resiliency, and security.
• Oversee the entire path to production, including CI/CD pipelines, testing environments, and deployment processes, ensuring efficient and seamless delivery.
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of developers, engineers, and project management professionals, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.
• Actively contribute to system development, particularly in complex areas such as low-level networking, concurrency, and I/O operations.
• Implement best practices in system monitoring, performance optimisation, and incident response to ensure high availability and operational resilience.
• Collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with strategic business objectives and ensure smooth feature rollouts.
• Champion rigorous quality assurance, secure development practices, and robust testing to deliver fault-tolerant and compliant systems.
• Drive innovation by adopting new technologies, improving processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team.

Who are you?

• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage software development teams
• A strong track record of project delivery in high-stakes environments.
• Extensive experience with Golang in coding and systems architecture. 
• Hands-on capability with complex system components.
• Deep understanding of low-level networking, I/O, concurrency in Go, and proficiency with Golang's testing and benchmarking frameworks.
• Advanced skills in concurrent programming, utilising atomic operations and sync mechanisms effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead through influence and foster a team environment that embraces diverse ideas and feedback.
• Proficiency in C++ or other relevant programming languages is highly desirable.
• Ability to contribute to strategic planning and decision-making at the management level.
• Demonstrated history of implementing innovative solutions and continuous improvement initiatives within technological and business processes.
