The Bigger Picture

At Andromeda Robotics, we’re not just imagining the future of human-robot relationships—we’re building it. As a pioneering social robotics startup, our mission is to revolutionise how humans connect with technology by introducing Abi, the world’s first empathetic companion robot. With a heart full of compassion and a spirit of kindness, Abi creates deep, meaningful connections with people, making the world a little warmer, a little brighter, and a lot more connected. Just like the beloved characters in your favourite stories, Abi is here to listen, understand, and share joyful moments.

Your Role in the Action

As the Head of People & Culture, you’ll lead all aspects of our people strategy, including talent acquisition, employee experience, DEI, organisational development, and HR operations. You’ll be instrumental in shaping a culture that reflects our values, drives performance, and ensures every team member thrives.

This is initially a standalone role and as a startup you will be eager to think big picture but also happy to role up your sleeves. You’ll shape the soul of Andromeda. You’ll create the systems and rituals that help our team thrive. You’ll be our strategic partner, culture champion, and hands-on operator—helping us scale with empathy, intention, and humanity.

How You’ll Make an Impact

As Head of People & Culture, your impact will be foundational. In a company building the world’s most emotionally intelligent robots, your leadership ensures that our internal culture reflects that same empathy and intelligence.

You will:

  • Build a culture that scales – Ensuring we grow without losing our heart, staying aligned and human as we expand.
  • Enable high performance – Equipping our people with clarity, feedback, and support so they can do the best work of their careers.
  • Attract and retain exceptional talent – Creating a workplace where people want to belong, contribute, and stay.
  • Lead with empathy and systems thinking – Designing experiences and processes that help us be more inclusive, thoughtful, and resilient.
  • Be the voice of our values – Translating our mission into daily interactions, rituals, and leadership behaviour.

Your work won’t just support the team—it will power the company. A healthy team builds better robots, faster. And a culture built with intention is a strategic advantage we carry into every interaction—with users, partners, and each other.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the people strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Build scalable HR processes across recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and employee engagement.
  • Lead all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including compensation, benefits, training, and career development.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on organisational design, workforce planning, and change management.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the company.
  • Implement HR systems and analytics to inform decision-making.
  • Foster a positive remote or hybrid workplace culture that supports flexibility, transparency, and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and best practices in HR.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow the People & Culture team as needed.

RequirementsWhat We Are Looking For
  • You’ve built or scaled People & Culture functions in a fast-moving environment
  • You’re a strategic thinker and empathetic operator with strong execution skills
  • You know how to balance startup scrappiness with long-term systems thinking
  • You have a deep belief in people, purpose, and the power of culture
  • You’re comfortable wearing many hats—people ops, coach, recruiter, culture builder
  • You bring emotional intelligence, curiosity, and a learning mindset
What You Will Bring
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership in a fast-growing tech or startup environment.
  • Deep understanding of modern HR disciplines (talent acquisition, performance management, DEI, org development, employee engagement).
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing scalable people programs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strategic mindset with a bias for action and results.
  • High EQ and the ability to build trust at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong knowledge of labor law and HR compliance in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Experience with HRIS tools, ATS systems, and data-driven decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading People & Culture in a Series A-C tech startup.
  • Background in organisational psychology or coaching.
  • Familiarity with high intense, tech and fast paced work environments.
  • Certifications in HR fields of expertise or similar

The salary for this position may vary depending on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional benefits or components based on the specific role. Details will be provided if an employment offer is made.

If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement, that’s okay—we encourage you to apply! At Andromeda Robotics, we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Let’s build the future together.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
