Why you will love this opportunity as Head of Finance – Libraries & Education

The Head of Finance serves as the commercial finance lead and key business partner to the market leader in the Libraries & Education Software (EDU) Business Units. This role is critical in driving strategic financial planning and analysis, providing insights that shape business decisions and contribute to overall financial performance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Be the go-to commercial partner to the Market Leader, providing strategic insights, data-driven analysis, and clear recommendations.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including long-range planning, annual budgeting, and monthly forecasting across the EDU business.
  • Oversee and present monthly reporting and key financial insights to senior leaders in EDU, the Australian Leadership Team, and global stakeholders including the EVP APAC and APAC Finance Director.
  • Drive forecasting accuracy and efficiency, leveraging advanced analytical techniques and continuous improvement.
  • Support commercial and customer negotiations, helping secure the best financial outcomes for Civica.
  • Identify and roll out initiatives to maximise revenue and reduce costs, improving overall gross margin.
  • Champion best practice use of Civica’s group systems, ensuring seamless processes from quoting to revenue recognition.
  •  Lead month-end reviews and support on key decisions around revenue recognition and contract closures.
  • Contribute to acquisition activity, including financial due diligence and synergy modelling.
  • Inspire and develop your team, helping to build future finance talent within the business.
Requirements

What you will need to be successful in this role

  • Proven experience partnering with senior leaders to influence strategic, insight-led decisions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills that drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management across all levels.
  • Experience in fast-paced, evolving environments; transformation exposure is a plus.
  • Highly proficient in Excel, with strong modelling and data analysis skills.
  • Organised and proactive, with excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset and experience mentoring or upskilling team members.
  • Ideally, experience in software or SaaS businesses, with knowledge of ARR and service revenue recognition.
  • Comfortable working in a global matrix environment.
  • Familiarity with financial planning tools (e.g. Workday, Adaptive Insights) and data visualisation platforms (e.g. Tableau, Power BI).
