About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Product Officer you will manage a team of 15 with 4 direct reports. As Head of Engineering you will lead our technical vision and execution and ensure our engineering & technology strategy remains aligned with our product roadmap and our business strategy. You will be responsible for the growth, performance, and well-being of our engineering team, fostering a high-performance culture characterised by speed, quality and continuous improvement. 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Culture & Stakeholder engagement

  • Define and drive engineering standards (code reviews, CI/CD) to ensure we ship high-quality code at pace
  • Continue developing our engineering talent through our established competency matrix and career framework to drive professional growth and mastery; fostering a positive team culture focused on collaboration and accountability
  • Collaborate effectively with all our customer and internal facing teams - Sales, Marketing, CX, Finance and P&C
  • Translate complex technical challenges into clear business outcomes for the SLT and Extended Leadership Team (and beyond!) 

Technical Strategy & Delivery & Operational Excellence

  • Own the technical architecture of the organisation and guide the team from a hands on and high-level perspective
  • Lead a mature, pragmatic event-driven microservices architecture built on .NET 9 and AWS CDK. We rely on Domain-Driven Design (DDD) concepts, Serverless workloads (Lambda, Fargate) where relevant, and asynchronous messaging (SNS/SQS, EventBridge)
  • Partner with Product to manage the trade-offs between speed-to-market and technical debt - delivery excellence is what this is all about
  • Lead the technical integration of emerging technologies, e.g. Agentic AI and LLMs (OpenAI), into our core SaaS platform to solve customer problems
  • Maintain our track record of >99.99% uptime by championing SRE practices, SLIs/SLOs, and blameless post-incident reviews.
  • Refine our Agile/Scrum methodologies and Shift Left culture to improve predictability and transparency
  • Establish a regular release cadence that is clear and planned and in line with our business and product strategy


Required Experience:

  • At least 10+ years of experience leading engineering teams in a fast-paced SaaS environment.
  • Deep technical and architectural experience in the .NET ecosystem (C#, .NET Core) and Cloud infrastructure (AWS)
  • A strong network within the tech community and experience building hybrid teams offshore teams
  • Experience managing significant Cloud budgets and optimising spend using AWS tools 
  • You think like a product owner; you understand that technology exists to solve customer problems and drive revenue
  • Hands on technical skills combined with strategic thinking 
  • Detailed experience managing security / ISO27000 and related tools
