As the Head of Business Risk, Controls & Assurance, you will be a key member of the Latitude Pay leadership team. Reporting into the EGM, Pay this role is responsible for developing the overreaching strategy to support the Pay business through a risk and control lens, This role will

  • Oversee the effective design, implementation, and management of first-line risk and control frameworks to support the business in delivering safe, efficient and well-managed operations.
  • Lead efforts to embed a strong risk culture, ensuring regulatory obligations are met
  • Drive operational performance and enhance governance practices. 

Working closely with core value chain partners including product, portfolio management, product delivery and technology, this role will manage operational risks, ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, and promote continuous improvement in processes and controls for the Pay division.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Conduct comprehensive enterprise-wide risks assessments to identify, evaluate and prioritise operational risks, ensuring effective mitigation strategies are implemented.
  • Design, implement and maintain robust risk and control frameworks to meet regulatory and business requirements.
  • Design and embed effective controls into core processes, optimise their performance, and conduct ongoing testing and monitoring to maintain a robust and resilient risk environment. This includes conducting quality assurance testing and thematic reviews, not limited to account opening checks, and the continuous auditing of products for regulatory compliance.
  • Establish and maintain strong governance practices to ensure effective oversight, accountability, and decision-making on risk and control activities.
  • Provide timely, insightful, and actionable reporting on operational risks, control performance, and key risk indicators.
  • Monitor and report on the resolution of incidents and control failures, ensuring root cause analysis, effective and timely resolution, and preventative measures.
  • Serve as a SME on risk, providing guidance and support to the Business/Risk Owners on risk management and control best practices.
  • Drive initiatives to nurture and promote a strong risk culture. This includes building strong relationships with stakeholders to embed risk management and controls into day-to-day operations and decision-making processes.
  • Drive operational excellence by identifying and implementing initiatives to eliminate inefficiencies, enhance process effectiveness and foster innovation to improve overall performance.
  • Support the product & portfolio management team and product delivery teams on market readiness and product enablement as they drive the execution and commercialising of products and solutions and closely managing ‘run state’ oversight and controls.
  • Prepare accurate and complete compliance related reports for regulatory submission and audit requests.
  • Lead and mentor a high performing team, building capabilities in risk and operational management.

About you:

  • An established background working in the following (or a combination of the following) fields: Audit, Risk Management, Business Consulting, , Governance, Quality Assurance, Process Re-engineering.
  • Experience working in a financial institution, particularly within a Risk and Governance function, will be considered favourably. 
  • A degree in Accounting, Risk Management, Business Administration, Engineering or related fields is preferred.
  • Experience in process improvement methdologies and change implementation will be considered favourably.
  • Independent, self-motivated, and highly driven individual with a passion and commitment to risk management, quality, process improvement and simplification.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team of professionals in a fast-paced environment. You should be able to inspire, motivate, and mentor team members and deliver exceptional results yourself.
  • High attention to detail and passion to drive projects to completion.
  • Highly collaborative, strong communication skills with exceptional interpersonal skills, as the role requires working with and influencing multiple stakeholders across different levels.
  • Fast learner with the ability to broadly understand processes, roles & responsibilities and functions in a complex institutional setup.
  • Innovative thinker with a demonstrated ability to work with others to problem solve who brings a passion for continuous improvement.
