Job Description

The Opportunity: Group Risk & Compliance Manager

This is a strategic, truly group-wide, Line 2 governance role with a broad reach and a meaningful impact on the management of compliance risks across the organisation. You will be empowered to oversee, direct and drive compliance-focused risk management across a portfolio of business units and group functions.

This is a rare opportunity for a Line 2 risk/compliance professional with a strategic thinking and problem-solving mindset, strong influencing skills and a desire to drive change.

As a key member of our growing Group Risk & Compliance function, you will be more than a manager - you’ll be a leader, strategic partner, trusted guide and change maker.

  • You’ll be at the forefront of implementing new approaches to risk and compliance management in a large ASX-listed organisation that is subject to a broad range of compliance obligations. You'll actively contribute to our risk and compliance management objectives and strategy, championing innovation and driving real change that delivers meaningful results for our team, customers and communities.
  • You’ll have a broad range of stakeholders who will look to you for direction, innovation and judgement. This role also offers direct access to senior management (including Executives and senior SMEs/specialists) and considerable room for growth and development.
  • You’ll also get out of the office and into our stores, venues and other sites to gain a deep, on-the-ground understanding of our businesses, ensuring our compliance strategy is practical and effective, and our approach to risk management is an enabler for growth.

Sounds good? Read on.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

As our new Group Risk & Compliance Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our risk management journey. This isn't a role about maintaining the status quo - it's about leading change and driving tangible outcomes. You will:

  • Drive Strategic Change: You will champion the compliance agenda, identifying new and innovative ways to embed risk management into our culture and ways of working. You’ll lead discussions and facilitate dynamic workshops with a range of stakeholders from SMEs, Legal to Executives.
  • Be a Trusted Partner: As a go-to leader, you'll build effective relationships and provide sound judgement to a range of stakeholders across the group. You'll use your expertise and influence to build risk and compliance awareness and drive engagement at all levels.
  • Shape our Future: You'll help mature our risk and compliance frameworks and processes. This includes strengthening our approach to risk assessment, obligation mapping, control governance, risk indicators and incident response. You'll prepare impactful reports for the Board and senior management, ensuring our key compliance risks are clearly understood.
  • Build Capability: You'll proactively mentor and guide stakeholders with varying levels of experience, accelerating our risk management capability and spreading best practices across the organisation.

This is a unique opportunity to join a lean and growing function, where your strategic thinking and ability to influence will have a meaningful impact on Endeavour Group's purpose and strategy.

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you:

  • You have 8+ years of experience working in a risk or compliance role, ideally within a consulting/advisory firm or well-established corporate function
You have a strong technical understanding of risk and compliance management fundamentals, including risk and controls assessment, obligation mapping and process reviews.
  • You’re a strategic problem-solver with excellent stakeholder management skills.
You have proven experience preparing internal reports for senior management and/or the Board.
  • You have a tertiary qualification in business/commerce or a related discipline.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
