About the role:
We have a newly created role for a Government Relations Manager in our corporate affairs team! Reporting to our Head of Government and Industry this is a fantastic opportunity for the next step in your career. This role can be based in our national support office in Melbourne or also out of Canberra – please note we don’t have an office in Canberra so there would be a requirement for regular travel to Melbourne as part of this role.
This role will help to plan, develop and execute government relations strategies across federal, state and local jurisdictions. The successful candidate will build and maintain strong relationships with key government stakeholders with a focus on advocating for Bunnings’ interests. They will also provider strategic advice to senior management on policy developments that affect Bunnings!
Day to day some of the activities you will be focused on include monitoring and analysing relevant legislation, regulations and policy proposals. You will represent Bunnings in meetings with government officials and stakeholders. You will be preparing and delivering presentations and briefings on policy issues and providing up to date advice internally to our leaders on any regulatory developments they need to be across.
You’ll need:
- Ideally you are degree qualified in public policy, political science, law etc and have recent practical experience working within government relations, public affairs
- Any experience in a similar role within the retail industry would be advantageous
- You bring with you an existing network of contacts within government and industry
- Experience in developing and executing successful government relations strategies will see you succeed in this position
- You are an excellent communicator and have exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills
- You are analytical and enjoy problem solving and have the ability to manage multiple key projects at any point in time
