How You'll Make an Impact

  • This is an exciting opportunity to join the People Experience team at Xero and play a pivotal role on the Organisational Development leadership team. In PX we are focussed on empowering Xeros to thrive, together.  In OD we contribute to this mission by:
  • Embedding the Xero Values into the everyday experience of Xeros, globally
  • Designing ways of working that promote learning, collaboration, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion 
  • Cultivating a strong, high performance culture, and developing the capability of our key talent and our leaders, that will enable the delivery of Xero’s customer vision and strategic ambitions
  • Using a data driven approach to know and listen to our Xeros and identifying the best way to drive outcomes. 
  • In this role, you will spearhead the successful implementation of our Organisational Development strategy, processes, initiatives and capability across Xero globally, whilst leading a team of highly capable OD talent and working collaboratively across the business, ultimately ensuring we deliver for Xero customers. 

What You'll Do

  • Talent Management: Lead the design of the talent and succession management strategy and approach for XLT and Board, in partnership with your Program Manager - Talent Management; Oversee cyclical activity for talent management practices for Remuneration Committee, in partnership with the Chief PX Officer, including identification, assessment, succession planning performance, development and mobility; Monitor progress against plans and report on key talent metrics to XLT and the Remuneration Committee, including writing Board reports.
  • Executive Leadership Development: Ensure the design and implementation of Xero’s full leadership strategy with a view to deepening leadership capability for our XLT and ELT, in partnership with your Program Manager - Leadership Development; Responsible for identifying the key capabilities and frameworks required for executive leadership and ensure these are embedded across the organisation; Design, deliver and facilitate and/or partner to deliver global and impactful executive leadership development and coaching programs, and lead and/or contribute to the design of leadership community forums and channels.
  • Global Learning & Career Development: Oversee the design of the talent and succession management strategy and approach for XLT and Board, in partnership with your Program Manager - Talent Management; Partner with the Head of Employee Experience team to connect and together drive a culture of high performance, engagement and care.
  • Employee Experience: Partner with executive leadership, PX Business Partners and Employee Experience team to drive a culture of high performance, engagement and care; Monitor progress against plans for DIB, Wellbeing and Engagement and report on key talent metrics to XLT and the Remuneration Committee, including writing Board reports.
  • Portfolio and team leadership: Provide leadership and coaching to the team and effectively manage anticipated demand and capacity within the team to support across OD; Develop and communicate compelling business cases for improvement, outlining return on investment, risks and capabilities required for execution; Develop and implement a measurement framework to understand progress, outcomes and ensure regular feedback from stakeholders; Manage budgets and commercial relationships with external partners as required to supplement capacity and capability; Stay abreast of the latest developments, best practices and trends in Talent, Diversity and Inclusion, and other Organisational Development domains; Experience and expertise in leveraging AI tools (adaptive learning platforms, content development, chatbots, predictive analytics) to improve people leader and employee experience as well as improve team productivity.

Success Looks Like

  • The role and priorities of the Leadership and Talent team are well established, supported and aligned to the near term and strategic priorities of Xero
  • Appropriate systems and processes are in place to work efficiently including leverage of AI, understand the value of the programs and interventions delivered, collaborate with leaders and other teams, scale globally where appropriate and provide an integrated employee experience
  • Leadership capabilities are advocated, understood and rewarded when met, as well as embedded across human systems (e.g. talent and succession). Consistent achievement of development outcomes for programs and interventions
  • Year on year improvements in succession coverage and internal talent development and mobility

  • Experience:
  • Experience in designing and implementing talent management, leadership, learning strategies and initiatives globally, at scale.
  • Experience working within a fast paced, growing global industry.
  • Experience working in or with complex matrixed global organisations, including Board engagement.
  • Experience leading a large scale cultural or learning & development intervention.
  • Proven track record in the execution of strategic and operational OD and change, with the ability to move between strategy and execution.
  • Experience in advocating for a change or movement and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Experience leading global teams.
  • Experience in leadership coaching, desired.
  • Willingness to travel.
