Global Veteran Experience Specialist

Company:

The Boeing Company

We are seeking a Global Veteran Experience Specialist with firsthand experience serving in a non-U.S. military and deep understanding of the international veteran landscape to join the team in London UK, Bristol UK, Winnipeg Canada, Melbourne Australia or Neu-Isenburg (Frankfurt) Germany.

This role is a core member of the Enterprise Military-Connected & Veteran Program and is critical to building synergy and a comprehensive global strategy for veteran recruitment and retention. You will lead end-to-end improvement of the total veteran and military-connected employee experience — from attraction and hiring through career progression, retention, transition, and alumni engagement — and share best practices across all countries where Boeing employs veterans. You will combine process and data expertise with cultural fluency and empathy to design practical, scalable solutions that work across manufacturing floors, maintenance sites, engineering labs, and corporate offices.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at London UK, Bristol UK, Winnipeg Canada, Melbourne Australia or Neu-Isenburg Germany.

Position responsibilities:

  • Act as the subject matter expert and internal advocate for non-U.S. veteran and military-connected employee experience across Boeing’s global footprint.
  • Serve as an integrated member of the Enterprise Military-Connected & Veteran Program to align local initiatives with enterprise strategy and share scalable practices across regions.
  • Lead comprehensive value-stream mapping and process analysis of the full veteran employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, development, retention, transition, and alumni engagement.
  • Co-design and operationalize a global veteran recruitment and retention strategy in partnership with Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, Culture & Engagement, and the Enterprise Military-Connected & Veteran Program to ensure consistent, locally adaptable approaches.
  • Identify pain points, inefficiencies, and high-impact opportunities using both qualitative and quantitative methods (focus groups, interviews, observation, surveys, data analysis).
  • Design and document future-state veteran journey maps and persona-based experience flows that reflect local military backgrounds, cultural contexts, job types, and technology access.
  • Develop differentiated experience and retention strategies tailored to geographic regions, work settings, and veteran cohorts.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned across countries and business units; adapt global approaches to local legal, cultural, and workforce realities.
  • Pilot, test, and iterate interventions with representative employee groups before broader roll-out; collect and report on pilot results.
  • Track and report veteran-specific KPIs (retention, engagement, career progression, time to productivity, transition outcomes) and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Partner closely with Culture & Engagement, HR Operations, frontline managers, business leaders, and the Veteran ERG to align strategy and amplify impact.
  • Provide training, guidance, and tools to stakeholders on veteran transition support, military skill translation, inclusive communications, and retention practices.
  • Benchmark against industry and non-profit veteran support organizations to surface innovative approaches and emerging technologies.
  • Lead efforts to create and promote veteran engagement initiatives, events, and recognition opportunities that support recruitment and retention goals.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years experience in process analysis, employee experience design, operations improvement, or comparable analytical roles.
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams across frontline, technical, and office environments.
  • 3+ years’ experience with process mapping or value-stream mapping techniques.
  • Direct personal experience serving in a non-U.S. military, with familiarity of the veteran experience and transition challenges outside the U.S.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and change management skills.
  • Ability to translate qualitative insights and quantitative data into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with enterprise-level programs or cross-functional enterprise councils to drive strategy and alignment.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience partnering with Veteran Support Organizations and veteran networks internationally.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Process Management, Human Resources, Psychology, Organizational Development, related field, or military equivalent education
  • Certification in process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Design Thinking, etc.).
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, engineering, or multi-site global organizations.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms and employee-facing technologies.

What success looks like:

  • Clear, replicable veteran journey maps deployed in multiple geographies.
  • Measurable improvements in veteran recruitment, retention, engagement, and career mobility.
  • Enterprise-level alignment: local programs and pilots are integrated into a coherent global veteran recruitment and retention strategy managed through the Enterprise Military-Connected & Veteran Program.
  • Scaled best practices and tools shared across countries and embedded in HR and frontline manager processes.
  • Strong partnerships with ERGs and veteran support organizations that increase awareness and impact.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
