The role & impact
This is an opportunity to reinvent and design the global mobility function at Xero, moving beyond administrative tasks to establish best-practice frameworks. You will play a pivotal role in defining how we handle international movement, taking ownership of compliance and governance to reduce reliance on our tax and legal teams. By building scalable processes and providing expert guidance, you will ensure the support we provide to our globally mobile talent is efficient, compliant, and genuinely human.
The team & how they connect
Reporting to the People Experience leadership, you will work closely with PX Advisory, Talent Experience, and key partners in Tax and Legal. You will serve as a subject matter expert and a strategic guardrail, aligning mobility requests with our broader location strategy to support managers and employees effectively.
Initially, the role will focus on
Re-establishing our global mobility policy and frameworks, as the current guidelines require a comprehensive refresh to meet modern standards.
Developing and gaining leadership agreement on a hybrid approach policy to support our evolving ways of working.
Identifying and establishing relationships with external vendors to better support employees with the practicalities of settling into new countries.
Upskilling internal stakeholders within the People Experience team to ensure they feel confident managing international transfer requests.
Where and how you can work
This role is based in Australia to align with the time zones of our key stakeholders and the primary flow of our employee mobility. We operate on a hybrid model, so you will balance time connecting with the team in our local office with the flexibility of working from home.
Here are some of the things we are looking for
You bring experience in a dedicated global mobility role
Balancing strategy with execution comes naturally to you; you are ready to design high-level frameworks while still getting stuck into the operational details when needed.
You possess deep subject matter expertise in compliance and governance, allowing you to spot risks independently and guide the business without constant reliance on tax or legal teams.
Building relationships is a strength of yours, allowing you to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and manage expectations around complex mobility scenarios.
You are comfortable working with autonomy and confidence, particularly in an environment where processes are still maturing and require your guidance to reach best practice.
A continuous improvement mindset is essential, as you will be looking for ways to enhance the employee experience, such as improving how we support staff settling into new regions.
Apply even if your experience isn't a perfect match! At Xero, we hire based on your skills, passion, and the unique perspective you can bring to enhance our culture and team.
