Welcome to Motto by Hilton Sydney City Centre!

Motto by Hilton is more than a place to stay – it is a smarter way to travel. Built for explorers who crave connection over convention, Motto immerses guests in the energy of each destination. Every property is shaped by its neighborhood, with flexible, cleverly connected rooms that maximize space and adapt to every need. At the heart of each hotel is a vibrant restaurant and bar – a social hub where locals and travellers come together over coffee, cocktails, and standout cuisine. Motto launches guests into the city’s rhythm and welcomes them back to recharge, reconnect, and head out for more. Cleverly connected. Always in motion.

The Property

Motto by Hilton Sydney City Centre will introduce an exciting new lifestyle hospitality experience to Australia. Located on York Street in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, the 152-room hotel will be a cleverly designed launchpad to the city, moments from The Rocks, Darling Harbour, Barangaroo, the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Flexible guestrooms, vibrant social spaces, locally inspired experiences and bar-led food and beverage, including an exciting year-round rooftop bar, will bring guests and locals together from morning through night. As Australia’s first Motto by Hilton hotel, this is a rare opportunity to help launch a bold, culturally connected brand and create one of Sydney’s most dynamic new social destinations.

Responsibilities

The Role

As a Motto General Manager, you will lead a high-energy hotel that redefines what is possible in small spaces. Motto is built for a hip traveller who values design, efficiency, and cultural connection. Your role is to deliver a lifestyle experience that is bold, social, and deeply tuned into the local vibe.

You will curate experiences that reflect the city’s rhythm – through music, programming, and partnerships with local creatives and small businesses. Everything should feel intentional and relevant to a trend-aware, culturally curious audience. You will treat food and beverage like a standalone hotspot: casual, cool, and locally loved. Whether through pop-ups, bar-forward menus, or grab-and-go done well, your F&B program should draw in both guests and neighbourhood regulars.

You will champion business excellence by driving financial success and staying ahead of market trends. Collaborate with Sales & Marketing to craft revenue strategies that deliver commercial performance and brand impact. Your financial stewardship ensures budgets are managed effectively, market shifts are anticipated, and initiatives enhance guest experience and reputation.

You will also build strong owner relationships, serving as the primary liaison between hotel owners and Hilton. Keep communication open and proactive – sharing financial results, brand initiatives, and property health – while advocating for resources that elevate the Motto experience.

You are a hands-on, entrepreneurial leader who creates maximum impact with a lean team and an agile mindset. You will lead a team that is empowered to show personality and make every interaction feel genuine, modern and unpretentious. You create a place that feels spontaneous, social and worth discovering, while demonstrating the Hilton values that have made us the #1 World’s Best Workplace as awarded by Great Place to Work & Fortune.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
