The General Manager, Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics will be responsible for leading a direct and indirect team of approximately 50 sales, service, application, customer support and marketing associates. This role will report to the Vice President of APAC Commercial Management for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics. This critical leader will have responsibility for driving profitable revenue growth and building amazing companies with exceptional culture and engagement. She or he will have the autonomy to drive goals and objectives, measuring and monitoring performance and critically contributing to a holistic strategic and business planning process. This role will get results through outstanding leadership skills, consistently fostering and supporting a culture of continuous improvement, with an eye on reaching optimum performance on an individual and team basis.

This position is part of the Asia Pacific Commercial Management Team located in Sydney / Melbourne, Australia and directly report to the Vice President of APAC Commercial Management. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and lead long-term strategic plan with detailed initiatives to reach customer experience, growth and profitability goals for overall commercial organization in the assigned geography, which including; Develop annual budget based on strategic plan and on achieving above market growth by product line and area; deliver budgeted performance; Define overall strategy for the sales, application, service and technical support functions with short- and long-term plans in place to execute strategy; Create and implement business and market strategy for new and existing service product offerings using input from Business Units and Sales Teams to create effective market growth strategies with continuous improvement mindset.
  • Build a high-performance team (incl. effective change management), supervise the development of direct reports with an active succession plans and drive engagement actions for best place to work culture. Create a compassionate, inclusive, positive environment in each country where employees give their best and wouldn’t dream of leaving. Drive thorough business processes across a decentralized site structure, including strong focus on daily management on the local level by elevating usage of DBS (funnel management, transformational marketing, Kaizen etc.).
  • Ensure strong understanding of the marketplace dynamics including competitive and customer trends. Monitor the scientific and related industry trends, and work with the rest of the APAC/HGM leadership team and global business unit to identify new opportunities and enhance business ventures. Represent the organization in customer negotiations, trade shows, seminars, conferences and other official occasions.
  • Establish processes, metrics, compensation programs to successfully drive commercial functions in alignment with APAC/HGM and global sales.
  • Proactively present, minimize and manage business risks by establishing and implementing policies and procedures that ensures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business or life sciences technical field, MBA preferred, with 20 years of work experience in the medical device, healthcare or life science research industry. And at least 10 years of successfully building and leading and engaging a large commercial organization
  • Substantial experience within a fast-growing, complex business arena as General Manager with P&L responsibility in ANZ;
  • Demonstrated strong strategic and analytical skills as well as solid business acumen, experience in profit and loss management and growth achievements;
  • Ability to interface with and lead within a complex regional commercial team to achieve maximum results;
  • Shown successful record in sales/marketing leadership and staff management, while functioning in a fast paced, action-oriented environment

LANGUAGE CAPABILITY: English, and any local language would be a plus

TRAVEL:   Estimated 50% of the time. No constraints on travel within ANZ/APAC region
