Job Description

  • Be uniquely you, come as you are
  • Hybrid ways of working
  • Corporate Discounts

This is a highly operational, venue-facing role sitting at the intersection of hospitality operations and technology. As a Functional Analyst – Hotels Technology, your primary partner will be ALH Hotels, working closely with venue teams and operational leaders and teams, while also collaborating with key internal stakeholders across the broader business and selected third-party technology vendors. This is not a purely technical role — it’s a highly collaborative position that sits at the intersection of operational business process and technology design.

You’ll spend significant time working with venue teams and stakeholders across the Hotel Group  - understanding how pubs actually run, listening to operational pain points, and unpacking complex challenges in practical, real-world environments.

A core part of your role is extracting both functional and non-functional requirements from non-technical stakeholders. You’ll translate everyday problem statements into clear documentation, user stories, process maps, and structured requirements — then shape technology-enabled recommendations that improve efficiency, reduce complexity, and enhance the team and guest experience.

This role is approximately 50/50 operational engagement and technology solution design. You’ll need to be comfortable going deep — dissecting workflows, identifying root causes, mapping current state processes, and defining future-state solutions with a technology lens.

You’ll be involved in the full solution lifecycle — from stakeholder discovery and business case input, through system architecture considerations, integration strategy discussions, and collaboration with development teams to ensure accurate implementation. You’ll also support testing and validation to ensure solutions truly meet business needs.

Sound good? Read on.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across diverse stakeholder groups

  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of how operational decisions impact performance, and how technology can enhance and improve those outcomes.

  • If you’re someone who thrives on solving messy operational problems, enjoys working closely with frontline teams, and can confidently bridge business and technology — this role is for you.
  • The ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical language

  • The ability to take operational challenges described in layman’s terms and convert them into structured, well-defined technical solutions

  • Strong presentation and playback skills, confidently articulating findings, insights and recommendations to key stakeholders

If you're someone who thrives on solving messy operational problems, enjoys working closely with frontline teams, and can confidently bridge business and technology — this role is for you.

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a Functional Analyst, Business Analyst, or operational solution design role — ideally within hospitality, retail, or multi-site environments.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering both functional and non-functional requirements from non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong capability in documenting current-state and future-state processes, including user stories, process maps, and business requirement documentation.
  • Experience analysing operational workflows and identifying root causes — not just symptoms.
  • Exposure to Lean thinking, process improvement, or continuous improvement methodologies (desirable).
  • Understanding of system integrations, data flows, and solution architecture principles (you don’t need to build it, but you need to design with it in mind).
  • Familiarity with SDLC and working alongside technical development teams.
  • Excellent communication skills — able to translate business challenges into technical language and technical solutions into plain English.
  • Comfortable working directly with frontline operational teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Curious, commercially aware, and motivated to simplify complex environments.

Overall, this sounds like a challenging and rewarding role for individuals with the right technical expertise and a passion for designing effective technology solutions within a supportive and benefits-rich environment.

We are deeply committed to fostering a truly diverse and inclusive workplace and actively welcome all applicants, regardless of background, identity, or experience, who meet the essential skills and experience requirements.

The benefits are good too!

  • We offer flexible working in every sense
  • An exclusive discount card for BWS, Dan Murphy’s, Woolworths, BIG W and other Endeavour Group brands, including our ALH pubs
  • Monthly meeting-free days
  • Your health and wellbeing is your most important asset, and as one of our valued team members, it’s our first priority. You will have a range of free services to help you live well and support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing
  • Endeavour Group is full of opportunities - use our dedicated learning and development options to grow an idea, yourself, and your career. This is just the start, so dream big.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
