Job Summary
As the First Nations Talent Lead at Telstra, you’ll apply your knowledge of Aboriginal ways of knowing, being and doing to deliver our First Nations Talent Strategy. You’ll also oversee the delivery of People, Culture and Communications (PC&C) commitments in our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). You will do this as part of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) team who are committed and passionate people delivering real and systemic change.Job DescriptionWhat We Offer

What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll enhance trust and strengthen relationships, build a stronger sense of belonging, and offer guidance to improve the experience of First Nations team members at Telstra. You’ll draw on your knowledge and lived experience to shape the most respectful and effective way to bring the First Nations Talent Strategy (FNTS) to life – a strategy developed by First Nations team members to support cultural safety and create better outcomes.
In the role, you’ll review and determine how to best:
Partner with our First Nations Recruiter to attract and recruit First Nations talent.
Grow, nurture and promote First Nations talent.
Create a safe work environment that respects, values and nurtures First Nations talent.
Support Telstra’s ongoing First Nations learning journey.
Influence systemic change and back self-determination.
Monitor success measures/criteria and adjust as required.
Engage with and support the First Nations Employee Representative Group (ERG).
Work closely with teams across Telstra and the First Nations Directorate.
About You
We are specifically seeking applicants who are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and are accepted by the community in which they live or formerly lived.
We are looking for someone who brings:
An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Strong knowledge of cultural protocols to ensure respectful and effective communication with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.
A solid understanding of First Nations histories, cultures and protocols.
Deep knowledge of Aboriginal ways of knowing, being and doing.
Experience in talent management and employee experience.
Problem solving and decision-making skills.
Program or project management capabilities.
The ability to engage and collaborate effectively with senior leaders and both internal and external stakeholders.
A collaborative mindset to influence and drive change in complex, fast-paced environments.
