Financial Crime Compliance Analyst

Melbourne | Permanent - Full-Time

We are looking for a Financial Crime Compliance Analyst to join our Enterprise Risk, Compliance & Sustainability team and help strengthen our financial crime compliance capability across AML/CTF, fraud and scams risk management.

About the role

Reporting to the Regulatory Change and Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in providing Line 2 oversight, advice and constructive challenge across Heartland's financial crime compliance framework. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to help ensure our policies, controls and reporting are effective, understood and aligned with regulatory obligations and risk appetite.
 

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with AML/CTF and financial crime experience who enjoys translating complex regulatory requirements into practical business outcomes.

What you'll be doing

  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of Heartland's AML/CTF, fraud and scam compliance frameworks and policies.

  • Provide Line 2 advice and challenge across customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, suspicious matter reporting and AUSTRAC obligations.

  • Review new products, services and business initiatives from a financial crime compliance perspective.

  • Monitor regulatory developments, including AUSTRAC guidance, AML/CTF Rule changes and emerging financial crime risks.

  • Support financial crime compliance assurance activities and assess the effectiveness of controls across the business.

  • Prepare reporting, insights and recommendations for management and governance forums.

  • Support financial crime training, awareness initiatives and continuous improvement activities across the organisation.

  • Maintain financial crime risk records and reporting within Protecht and support audit and assurance reviews.

Does this sound like you?

  • You have experience in AML/CTF compliance, financial crime, risk or compliance within banking or financial services.

  • You have a strong understanding of the AML/CTF Act, AML/CTF Rules and AUSTRAC regulatory expectations.

  • You enjoy partnering with stakeholders and providing practical advice that helps manage risk while supporting business outcomes.

  • You can translate complex regulatory requirements into clear and practical guidance.

  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • You enjoy identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting.

  • Experience with Protecht or another GRC platform will be highly regarded.

  • ACAMS certification or a related financial crime qualification is desirable.
