Role Objective:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Melbourne team and step into the role of Financial Accountant on a 12-month fixed term basis. Under the guidance of the Financial Reporting Manager, you’ll play an important role in supporting external reporting and compliance requirements across Australia and New Zealand.

 

You’ll be involved in the preparation of statutory accounts, tax compliance support, and internal controls, while also gaining exposure to new business integration and governance activities. Working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, you’ll liaise with auditors, finance teams, and external advisors to ensure deadlines are met and reporting is accurate.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Statutory reporting support: Assist with preparation of annual statutory accounts and group consolidation workpapers.
  • Tax compliance: Support the preparation of tax documentation and work with internal teams and external advisors to meet deadlines.
  • Accounting standards: Research and apply changes to accounting standards, ensuring compliance in financial reporting.
  • Internal controls & audit: Contribute to documentation and testing of internal controls, supporting both internal and external audits.
  • Business integration: Assist with finance projects, policy development, and integration of new business activities.
  • Corporate governance: Help maintain corporate databases and group structure charts for reporting accuracy.

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Relevant qualifications: Part-qualified or recently qualified CA/CPA or actively progressing toward qualification.
  • Practical experience: 2–3 years in external audit, business services, or financial reporting within a corporate setting.
  • Technical knowledge: Exposure to preparing financial statements and understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Attention to detail: A high level of accuracy and a commitment to producing quality work.
  • Systems & tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with exposure to consolidations or multinational groups an advantage.
  • Communication skills: Strong interpersonal abilities and a willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Proactive approach: Self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
