Financial Accountant

A little about the role

Reporting to the Corporate Services Manager (ASM), you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, managing statutory and tax compliance obligations, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and driving process improvements across the finance function.
In this role, you will prepare statutory financial reports in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards, manage Income Tax, FBT and GST reporting and lodgements, deliver month-end reporting, reconciliations and financial analysis, and maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger.
You will also support budgeting, forecasting and treasury activities, assist with board reporting, audit requirements and regulatory compliance, provide financial insights to support decision-making, and work closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure strong financial controls and governance.
What you’ll bring

We’re looking for an experienced finance professional who combines strong technical accounting expertise with a proactive, continuous improvement mindset.
• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting, tax compliance and month-end reporting.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, taxation legislation and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with Xero or a comparable cloud-based accounting system
• Approximately five years’ experience in financial accounting or a comparable role[JS1.1]
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines independently
• Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities, with experience improving financial processes and systems.
