Financial Controller

As Financial Controller, you will take ownership of financial controls, oversee month-end close processes, manage payroll compliance, and ensure adherence to accounting standards. You will play a critical role in financial reporting, optimizing financial processes, and providing insights that support business growth. This role requires a proactive and strategic mindset to enhance financial operations and scalability.

What You’ll Do:

🗓️ Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Own and manage the month-end close process, including preparation and review of key reconciliations and journal entries.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with accounting standards.
• Lead statutory reporting, annual audits, and tax lodgments.
• Maintain compliance with financial regulations in Australia and the US, ensuring all tax, payroll, and reporting obligations are met.
• Manage reporting for compliance areas such as transfer pricing and R&D tax incentives.

🗓️ Operational Finance & Controls

• Manage payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance with tax/superannuation requirements, and proper reconciliations.
• Strengthen internal financial controls and risk management frameworks.
• Oversee tax compliance, including GST, FBT, and payroll tax filings.
• Develop and manage cash flow forecasting to optimize financial planning.
• Drive accuracy and efficiency in financial data management and reporting.

🗓️ Process Improvement & Strategic Support

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial operations and reporting efficiency.
• Lead finance-related projects, including system enhancements, automation initiatives, and scalability efforts.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
• Prepare and present financial reports and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Ensure compliance with SaaS-specific financial requirements, including revenue recognition and subscription billing best practices.

🎨 What You Bring:

• CPA/CA qualified with 7+ years of experience in financial accounting, finance management, or controllership roles.
• Experience in a SaaS or technology business is strongly preferred.
• Strong technical accounting expertise, including financial reporting, compliance, and tax regulations.
• Proven experience managing month-end close processes, payroll compliance, and financial controls.
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, NetSuite, or similar) and strong Excel/financial modeling skills.
• Highly analytical with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills, with the ability to influence business decisions.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and adapting to change.
