  • Produce timely management reports and analyse revenue streams (managed services, projects, licensing, hardware).
  • Analyse margin trends and cost drivers across service lines to inform decision-making.
  • Partner with sales, service delivery and operations to improve pricing discipline, contract profitability and utilisation.
  • Support tender responses, business cases and commercial negotiations with clients and vendors.
  • Provide financial insight on recurring revenue growth, churn, SLA performance and customer lifetime value.
  • Support evaluation and financial modelling for M&A opportunities, synergies and integration planning.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital to protect liquidity.
  • Oversee billing accuracy (recurring services, T&M, projects, licensing) and strengthen AR processes to reduce debtor days.
  • Ensure AP efficiency and optimise vendor terms.
  • Build, lead and mentor the finance team to deliver a data-driven, service-focused function.
  • Drive improvements in financial systems, dashboards and reporting automation (e.g. ConnectWise, QuickBooks/Xero, Fathom, Power BI).
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls around procurement, billing and revenue recognition; support external audits and compliance activities.
  • Identify and implement process improvements so financial processes scale effectively as the business grows.
  • Cost control and management.
  • Participate in stocktake and other inventory control processes.

What you'll bring:

  • CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in financial management, ideally within an IT services or MSP environment.
  • Strong understanding of recurring revenue models, project accounting, and managed services operations.
  • Proficient in financial systems and reporting tools commonly used in MSPs.
  • Excellent analytical, commercial, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, growing environment with competing priorities.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks).
  • Comfortable challenging the status quo and driving improvement.
  • Commercially minded with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, deadlines and adapt to a rapidly changing business environment to prioritise accordingly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, intellectual rigour and curiosity, and ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
