Job Description:

You’ll ideally be located near Melbourne’s Western Suburbs, North or West Melbourne, Ballarat, or Geelong to best cover your territory.

Passionate about pets? Ready to be part of a fast-growing, exciting channel with real purpose?

At Mars Petcare, we’re driven by our love for pets and commitment to helping them live healthier, happier lives. We’re looking for a passionate Field Sales Representative to bring our trusted brands to life across around 100 specialty pet stores—covering the western and northern suburbs, with periodic regional trips including Geelong and the Great Ocean specialist run.

What makes this role different? This is not just another sales rep role. It’s about creating real impact through education, strong in-store relationships, and trusted recommendations. You’ll combine your sales skills with science-backed storytelling to help retailers and pet parents make confident choices. Plus, you’ll be joining one of the fastest-growing, most vibrant channels in the business—where dogs in stores and great culture are part of your everyday.

Your role will include:

  • Being the in-store expert across key specialty petcare retailers.
  • Delivering training, advice, and recommendations that drive product knowledge and sales growth.
  • Balancing time between customer visits, office work, and periodic regional trips.
  • Using your strong communication and negotiation skills to influence and build lasting relationships.
  • Embracing the energy and challenge of a demanding but rewarding role.

What we’re looking for:

  • A valid driver’s license (a must!).
  • Excellent communication skills and a hunger to succeed.
  • Experience in pet sales, FMCG, healthcare, or related field is a bonus but not essential.
  • A strong foundation in technical selling—able to translate product specs into clear benefits.
  • Proven ability to build rapport and influence behaviours in-store.
  • Comfortable using digital tools for reporting and insights.
  • Knowledge of pet nutrition or the category is advantageous but not required.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Marketing, Animal Science, or related fields preferred but not essential.

Tools of the trade:
To support you, Mars provides:

  • Company vehicle & fuel card
  • Laptop and mobile phone
  • Access to digital reporting and training resources

Why Mars Petcare?
Because this role is about more than shelf space—it’s about making a difference in pets’ lives every day. Join us and be part of a passionate, supportive team with plenty of growth opportunities and a culture that truly values excitement, energy, and love for what we do.

Ready to bring your passion and energy to the Specialist Pet Trade? Apply now and help us shape the future of pet care.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
