About Akcelo

We’re a new-breed agency designed for the experience era.
Our teams connect creativity, technology, and design to build experiences that people love, and that help brands grow.

We’re looking for a Mid-Weight Experience Designer to join our team (in Melbourne or Sydney) for a 12-month fixed-term contract. You’ll bring strong UX craft, a service design mindset, and a curious, collaborative energy to every project you touch.

This role is hands-on: you’ll work closely with senior designers and strategists to research, design, and deliver human-centred solutions for digital and physical experiences.

With great progression, the chance to work with the latest technology and some of the world’s most famous brands, a normal day in the role of the Mid-Weight Experience Designer includes:

  • Deliver human-centred design outcomes across digital and physical experiences.
  • Conduct and synthesise user research, such as interviews, workshops, journey maps, and usability testing.
  • Create personas, flows, wireframes, and prototypes in Figma and Miro.
  • Participate in co-design sessions and capture insights that guide design decisions.
  • Collaborate daily with creative, strategy, and technology teams to connect brand, design, and experience.
  • Contribute to Akcelo’s design system and experience frameworks.

What You Bring

Essential

  • 3–5 years’ experience in experience, UX, or service design.
  • Confident using Figma, Miro, and related tools.
  • Able to conduct and synthesise research, create design artefacts, and prototype solutions.
  • Clear communicator who enjoys working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Portfolio that demonstrates end-to-end design thinking and real project outcomes.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting or co-facilitating workshops.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards, behavioural design, or design systems.
  • An interest in emerging tools (AI, motion, or data-driven experience design).

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
