Engineering Manager
We're embarking on an engineering transformation with a key focus on team leadership, engineering excellence and AI enablement.
You have knowledge that spans across development and operations, including coding, infrastructure management, system admin/engineering, and DevOps Toolchains.
Together we will build tomorrow’s bank today, using world-leading engineering, technology, and innovation.
See yourself in our team:
As an Engineering Manager, you’ll combine strong technical leadership with people management to drive innovation and growth. You’ll guide a team of engineers, shape tech strategy, influence architecture and design decisions, and prioritise delivery roadmaps. Your role is key in fostering a high-performing, forward-thinking engineering culture while aligning technical execution with business goals.
The Customer Identity & Digital Trust crew focuses on building a full end‑to‑end modern identity solution that is secure, scalable, and channel‑agnostic.
The crew owns the identity platform and foundational capabilities, designing and delivering reusable identity services, APIs, and backend‑for‑frontend (BFF) layers that enable consistent authentication, authorisation, consent, and trust experiences across all customer touchpoints.
This includes:
Building and operating a modern identity platform that underpins all digital channels
Designing well‑governed, API‑first services that expose identity and trust capabilities in a secure and extensible way
Implementing BFFs tailored to channel needs, while keeping core identity logic centralised and reusable
Enabling channel‑agnostic front‑end experiences, ensuring a consistent customer identity journey
Embedding security, privacy, and compliance by design, including consent management and digital trust controls
Supporting product teams with scalable patterns, tooling, and standards to accelerate delivery while maintaining trust and consistency
By focusing on platform thinking over point solutions, the crew enables faster innovation, reduced duplication, and a unified customer identity experience.
We’re interested in hearing from people who:
Define and drive mobile engineering strategy aligned to enterprise objectives
Lead and mentor multiple engineering squads, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Establish and enforce coding standards, design reviews, and engineering best practices
Drive operational excellence and support teams in charge of mission-critical production services with diverse stakeholders and complex dependencies
Encourages risk-taking and constructive challenges, while growing diverse and inclusive teams
Establish innovative ways of working, successfully advocating for new technology approaches, and possess the experience to understand the architectural integration of new software solutions
Technical Skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

Experience establishing and enforcing architecture standards, design patterns, and reusable components
Ability to contribute to enterprise architecture forums and align mobile solutions with broader technology strategy
Familiarity with API-first and domain-driven design approaches
Experience with Jetpack Compose, SwiftUI, Human Interface Guidelines, Material Design
Understanding of identity, authentication, and access control frameworks (OAuth, SSO, biometrics)
Experience implementing and governing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, TeamCity)
Experience with mobile testing frameworks and automation
