The Opportunity
BDA is undergoing significant growth and is looking for passionate System Safety Engineers with experience or interest in Safety to join our Wedgetail team. We are seeking technical professionals interested in working collaboratively across an interdisciplinary and multinational team on cutting edge systems, and developing exciting new technologies, to support and grow Australia's defence capability.
Role can be based in either Brisbane, Adelaide or RAAF Base Williamtown.
Responsibilities
  • Perform Systems Engineering activities to plan, design, develop and verify systems specialising in the System Safety domain.
  • Support projects in understanding requirements and design implications pertaining to safety and identify potential and realised performance and safety considerations
  • Lead and facilitate internal and external Hazard Analysis Workshops.
  • Engage with internal engineering teams, customers and subcontractor stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage key safety artefacts including Hazard Logs, Hazard Analysis Reports, System Safety Assessments and Safety Case Reports.
  • Guidance and mentorship to junior team members
  • Lead specific scopes of work in safety engineering for projects
  • Actively promote the benefit of System Safety across the organisation and contribute to the development and growth of these disciplines within BDA

Experience/Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills that enable you to influence outcomes in a team environment
  • Experience with System Safety Standards, preferably MIL-STD-882E, ARP-4754B and ARP-4761A.
  • A continuous improvement mindset.
  • Tertiary degree qualification in an engineering or related technical discipline
  • Experience in System Safety Engineering in a complex project environment would also be considered highly desirable.
  • Hold a minimum NV1 Security Clearance
