The Role

 

The Director of Revenue Accounting at Zone & Co. will oversee the entire revenue cycle, including contract analysis, invoicing, collections, and revenue recognition in line with GAAP and SaaS standards. This role requires a detail-oriented, proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and collaborates with teams across Sales, Customer Success, Professional Services, and Finance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SaaS revenue recognition and a passion for supporting the financial growth of the company.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the transformation and automation around the order-to-cash process to ensure data accuracy, world-class customer experience, while maintaining controls. 
  • To be the primary revenue accounting advisor to the operations team and maintain the integrity of Salesforce and NetSuite connectors and ancillary software. 
  • Maintain discipline around financial month-end close to providing better insight and analysis around revenue allocations based on the contract terms while mitigating the risk of misstatement. 
  • Comprehensive understanding of data completeness to ensure a positive downstream impact and momentum. 
  • Partner with the Sales Organization, Legal,  and other Revenue Organizations around deal structuring, forecasting, and reporting. 
  • Proactively initiate cross-functional collaboration to reach the company’s and department’s objectives. 
  • Be a trusted partner to other departments, including FP&A, to develop revenue-related forecasts. 
  • Provide thought leadership and curious in nature to identify opportunities where scalable processes can be implemented to maximize efficiency and support company growth. 
  • Formulate a Cash collection strategy to maintain timely payments while addressing payment delays or discrepancies. 
  • Provide role clarity and the ability to set expectations to manage competing priorities while maintaining positive output. 
  • Partner with the Product team to implement new revenue policies and procedures. 
  • Contribute to developing the company’s overall financial strategy through detailed revenue insights and recommendations.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in revenue accounting, preferably in a SaaS or subscription-based business model.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP revenue recognition principles (ASC 606).
  • Experience with SaaS billing systems, NetSuite, Salesforce, Zone Billing, and other financial systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle high-volume transactions and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experienced people leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with process automation and continuous improvement in accounting workflows. 
  • CPA certification is a plus
