Vantage is seeking a commercially driven Director, Renewable Energy & CleanTech Solutions to lead the company's renewable and alternative energy strategy across the APAC region. The role is responsible for identifying, originating, negotiating and delivering innovative energy solutions that support Vantage's rapidly expanding data center platform, including utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), fuel cells, on-site power generation, microgrids, hydrogen and other emerging technologies.

A key priority will be developing large-scale data center campuses supported by behind-the-meter energy solutions that enhance energy security, resilience, sustainability and long-term capacity availability. The Director will work closely with utilities, renewable energy developers, technology providers, infrastructure investors and government stakeholders to secure both grid-connected and independent energy solutions that enable Vantage's continued growth across Australia and APAC.

Working cross-functionally with Business Development, Site Selection, Sustainability, Construction, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Finance and Executive Leadership teams, the successful candidate will align energy strategy with Vantage's growth objectives, customer requirements and sustainability commitments. The ideal candidate combines commercial energy origination expertise with strong technical and execution capabilities, and will be measured on their ability to secure long-term power capacity, execute strategic energy transactions, build industry partnerships and deploy innovative clean energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Renewable Energy Strategy, Origination & Commercial Leadership

  • Develop and execute Vantage's long-term renewable energy, clean technology and power strategy across Australia and APAC, aligned to business growth and energy requirements.

  • Originate, structure, negotiate and execute complex energy transactions, including PPAs, utility supply agreements and strategic energy partnerships, to secure long-term power capacity.

  • Provide market intelligence, investment recommendations and strategic guidance on energy markets, regulatory developments, pricing trends and emerging technologies.

  • Build and present investment case for energy projects to executive leadership quantifying the cost of power, risk allocation and capital exposure

2. Campus Energy Solutions & Clean Technology Deployment

  • Lead the development of large-scale campus energy strategies incorporating behind-the-meter generation, renewable energy and alternative technologies to enhance resilience, sustainability and long-term capacity availability.

  • Evaluate and deploy solutions including utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, fuel cells, hydrogen, microgrids, on-site power generation and other emerging technologies.

  • Develop innovative energy architectures that support customer decarbonization goals, integrate distributed energy resources and reduce reliance on constrained utility infrastructure.

3. Utility, Grid & Strategic Partnership Management

  • Build and manage executive-level relationships with utilities, regulators, government agencies, renewable developers, investors and technology providers across APAC.

  • Lead engagement on grid access, transmission planning, renewable integration and utility capacity to secure power for existing and future campus developments.

  • Establish strategic partnerships and represent Vantage in key energy policy, market reform and industry initiatives to strengthen long-term energy security.

4. Project Development, Delivery & Execution

  • Lead renewable energy and clean technology projects from origination through development, construction, commissioning and commercial operation.

  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to manage permitting, approvals, utility interfaces, interconnection, project risks and successful asset handover.

  • Support customer-facing energy discussions and ensure timely delivery of energy infrastructure that enables new and expanding data center campuses.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 15+ years' experience in renewable energy, power, utilities, energy markets or related sectors.

  • Proven success developing, financing and delivering large-scale renewable projects, including wind, solar and BESS.

  • Experience structuring and executing PPAs, BTM connections, BESS, on-site generation,renewable energy procurement transactions supporting the Power team with utility supply agreements

  • Strong knowledge of behind-the-meter solutions, microgrids, energy storage, hydrogen and on-site generation.

  • Deep understanding of the overall APAC electricity market, grid connections, regulations and market dynamics.

  • Experience supporting data centers, digital infrastructure or other mission-critical developments.

  • Proven ability to build strategic partnerships with utilities, developers, regulators, investors and technology providers.

  • Strong commercial, negotiation, stakeholder management and leadership skills, with a degree in Engineering, Energy, Business, Finance or a related field.
