Role Overview:


This role is a key leadership position within the Engineering department, owning the operational backbone that enables our engineers to innovate and deliver at scale. The Director of Engineering Operations will drive operational excellence, manage special projects, ensure compliance, and support strategic initiatives such as global expansion. This role has a strong operational focus, ensuring that the Engineering department runs smoothly and efficiently.


This is a hybrid role with work from our Melbourne or Sydney locations.


What You Will Own:

Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Engineering department, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows.
  • Manage the Engineering department's budget and resource allocation.
  • Drive operational improvements and efficiencies within the department.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.

Special Projects:

  • Lead and manage special projects that are critical to the Engineering department's success.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure the Engineering department complies with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Manage the R&D tax incentive programs to maximize returns.
  • Oversee SOC2 compliance and other security initiatives.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks within the department.

Strategic Initiatives:

  • Support the strategic goals of the Engineering department and the wider organization.
  • Provide operational support for global expansion initiatives.
  • Manage engineering investments to align with strategic priorities.

Team Leadership:

  • Be a cultural leader in the organisation and a key member of the engineering leadership team. 
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and develop team members to reach their full potential.

What We Look for In You:

  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering Operations or a related field.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing successful teams.
  • Strong operational and project management skills.
  • Experience with financial management and budgeting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with SOC2 compliance and risk management is a plus.
  • Experience with global expansion initiatives is a plus.
