This Developer role will be in an exciting space in a new team within the realcommercial.com.au (RCA) line of business. You'll have the opportunity to make a huge impact on the evolution of Real Commercial to become Australia’s undisputed number one destination for commercial property!
The RCA team works with commercial property agents to promote their listings through a suite of world class display and classified media products across Australia’s favourite property websites and mobile apps, realestate.com.au and realcommercial.com.au.
What the role is all about
- You’ll be a member of a local team in Melbourne
- Working with Lead Developer and other developers to ensure our solution is in line with our technical vision
- Close collaboration with product managers to deliver undeniable value to our customers
- Informing delivery planning and technical design by providing a balanced view of options, effort and quality considerations
- Keeping abreast of the latest technology advancements to inform product and technical design
- Proactively contributing to the continuous improvement of products, technology, process and team development
- Actively developing skills and experience through continual learning and evaluation
- Managing and maintaining existing systems in line with our product custodianship strategy
- Participating in engineering practices that produce testable, maintainable products to be proud of
- Knowledge sharing, growing & mentoring other developers within the team and the wider REA community
Who we’re looking for
- Ideally 1-2 years of experience building reliable, scalable, complex software applications
- Developed skills in two or more programming languages. Preferable; experience with Scala, Kotlin, Typescript, React JS or GraphQL
- Hands-on experience or willingness to become familiar with some of the following (or similar) software development tools and concepts: Event-Driven Architecture (EDA), PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Containerization, BigQuery, CDNs, Firewalls, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
- An appetite to work on both front-end, back-end and data systems
- Familiarity with software infrastructure concepts, deployment practices, CI/CD, and system observability.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and experience collaborating closely with other team members.
- Experience in building and maintaining software applications, with a focus on writing clean, maintainable code.
- A foundational understanding of software design patterns and best practices, with a strong desire to learn and apply them effectively.
- Ability to understand and contribute to breaking down technical tasks.
- Willingness to be pragmatic and flexible, adapting when priorities change, and learning to balance quality with timely delivery.
- Experience supporting the resolution of operational incidents.
- Interest in contributing to technical documentation and sharing knowledge with the team.
