About the Role:
This is a newly created role to join our growing team at CDC. As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for planning, managing, and governing the design process. You will work closely with architects, structural and services engineers, as well as specialist designers and technicians, to develop coordinated designs that guide the construction process and support ongoing maintenance of both the building and its services once completed.
Other responsibilities include:
• Manage Architectural and Engineering (A&E) consultants during design phases, ensuring timely production of technical drawings and documentation.
• Motivate internal and external design teams to meet deadlines and produce high‑quality, clear documentation.
• Coordinate the consenting, planning and building permit processes with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring applications meet statutory requirements and organisational standards, and liaising with authorities to resolve issues and support timely approvals.
• Oversee third‑party vendors and contractors across multiple design projects to ensure coordination.
• Collaborate with Customer teams to align expectations and meet project requirements.
• Review designs with stakeholders to ensure optimal outcomes and reduce risks.
• Provide clear documentation and advice to mitigate errors, maintain compliance, and champion innovation and safety practices.

About You:
This opportunity would suit someone who comes from a design manager/ engineering based background with a desirable exposure/ qualification in building civil, structural architecture industries, but not essential
- Strong design, engineering, and analytical skills with attention to detail and innovation.
- Persistent and determined problem-solver, focused on delivering customer-centric outcomes.
- Understanding of the Building permit / consenting process
- Effective team player with excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Essential:
Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.
