We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Analyst to join our Bunnings team.
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Data Governance Analyst to join the Bunnings Data & AI team and help shape how data is used right across our business. If you enjoy variety, solving real problems and working with people as much as data, this role gives you a million ways to make an impact – on our team members, our stores and our customers.
You’ll play a key role in uplifting how we govern, protect and use data at scale. From master data and metadata to data quality and policies, you’ll help turn good ideas into simple, practical ways of working that stick.
You’ll be joining a collaborative, down-to-earth team that’s big on learning, experimentation and continuous improvement – Inspiring you to give it a red hot go as you grow your craft in data governance.
What’s involved
In this role, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to contribute, learn and see the impact of your work by:
- Bringing the data governance framework to life – helping translate principles into everyday processes, standards and ways of working that teams can easily adopt.
- Partnering across the business – working with the Data Council, business data stewards, technology teams and other data streams to lift data quality and governance across key domains.
- Improving the data lifecycle – supporting how we create, use, share, retain and dispose of data so that it’s well managed, trusted and available when it matters.
- Lifting data quality – getting hands-on to help identify issues, shape remediation plans and work with stakeholders to design sustainable controls and checks.
- Protecting critical and sensitive data – contributing to the policies, standards and controls that keep our data safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
- Building data governance awareness – helping to design and deliver practical training and guidance that makes data governance easier to understand and apply.
You’ll see your work come to life in better reporting, clearer insights and more confident decision-making across Bunnings.
About you
You’re an experienced data governance analyst who’s comfortable wearing a few hats and switching between detail and big-picture thinking. You enjoy fast-paced environments where priorities can shift and where there’s plenty of scope to improve how things are done.
You’re curious about how the business operates and like turning data concepts into plain language and practical processes. You take initiative, are comfortable with some ambiguity, and enjoy shaping and building new ways of working – not just following what’s already there.
Collaboration comes naturally to you. You’re energised by working with a wide mix of stakeholders, taking the time to understand their needs, sharing ideas openly and finding practical solutions together. You communicate with clarity and confidence — whether you're running a workshop, chatting through an issue or pulling together a simple written summary — and you’re comfortable engaging with people at all levels of the business.
You bring strong relationship‑building skills, a thoughtful approach to problem‑solving and a learning mindset. You’re someone who likes to test, refine and keep improving the way things are done, always looking for better and more efficient ways to support the teams around you.
You’ll be joining a supportive, tight-knit team that shares knowledge openly, backs each other in and looks for better ways to do things every day.
What you’ll need
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- 2–4 years’ experience in data governance
- Practical understanding of core concepts such as data stewardship, metadata, master data, data quality and data controls.
- Experience working with data catalogues, data quality tools and visualisation platforms like Power BI (or similar).
- Tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Law, Business or similar are an advantage, but we’re just as interested in your relevant experience and attitude.
