Group Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Migration Lead Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data migration and be able to lead/support complex data transfer projects that ensure smooth transitions from legacy systems to new platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and impactful migration solutions aligned with business objectives. We would expect 5+ years of professional experience.
Project Description / Key Responsibilities:
Plan, design, and execute data migration projects, ensuring the timely and successful transfer of data between systems.
Analyze data requirements and ensure all necessary data transformations are captured during migration.
Develop migration scripts, tools, and workflows to automate and streamline data transfer processes.
Validate data accuracy and integrity post-migration, performing extensive data checks and tests.
Collaborate with internal teams (IT, business analysts, project managers) to align migration efforts with overall business goals.
Troubleshoot and resolve migration issues, providing solutions and guidance as needed.
Ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards during the migration process.
Provide ongoing support post-migration, including addressing issues related to data and performance.
Document migration processes, methodologies, and best practices for future reference.
Key Skills:
Proven experience (5+ years) in data migration, ETL processes, and data transformation.
Strong knowledge of data migration tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, AWS Data Migration Service, etc.) and databases (SQL, NoSQL).
Proficiency in writing scripts for data migration (SQL, Spark, Python, Shell scripting, etc.).
Experience with data quality assurance processes and data validation techniques.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex migration issues.
Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-premise systems.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams.
Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality deliverables.
Ability to manage multiple location-based teams in a fast-paced environment.
Location: Sydney or Melbourne.
