Design and implement end-to-end data solutions: build data pipelines, perform data modelling and warehousing, implement ETL, write scalable Python/SQL/Spark code, work with cloud data services, support ML/AI initiatives, and liaise with clients to deliver practical, secure data products and visualisations.
The summary above was generated by AI

Were you the kid who never stopped asking 'why'? The one who took things apart just to see how they worked? If you've carried that curiosity into your data career, and now you don't just ask why, you know why, we should talk.

AI has made it easier than ever to build the wrong thing faster. The value of a good consultant hasn't changed: knowing what's actually worth building, getting buy-in from people who'll use it, and making decisions that hold up when requirements shift. Tools change. That doesn't.

As a Practiv Data Engineer you will join a team of passionate Data Cloud & AI technologists who help deliver end to end technology solutions for our customers from building data pipelines, data warehousing, Machine Learning and AI and visualisation. You will work in a small team with a broad range of responsibilities and projects.

Requirements

Essential Skills

  • Strong understanding of data concepts, including data modelling, data warehousing, and ETL processes, with the ability to design and implement complex data pipelines efficiently.
  • Experience working with clients, this can be external as a consultant or internal working with other areas of your organisation
  • Experience with data services on any or all cloud platforms (e.g. Google Cloud, Databricks or Snowflake)
  • Relevant coding experience in languages such as Python and SQL or Spark with a strong ability to write clean, efficient, and scalable code for data manipulation and system integration.

Nice to Have

  • Snowflake experience and qualifications is a bonus!
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools
  • An understanding of what good data security practices entail

As a Consultant (Data Engineering) you’ve built a solid foundation within your data career and are looking to take that next step in your career.
If you think you are a good fit and have unique skills that make you a valuable team member we encourage applications even if you don’t tick all the boxes, please reach out with your application. We are a growing organisation with a lot of space for innovation and good ideas. Not essential but we love a 100 word summary of why you’re right for this role. Be yourself !!!

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
