The purpose of the Data Architect role at Endeavour Group is to lead the design, development, and governance of scalable, secure, and high-performing data architecture that supports the Group’s strategic priorities across retail, hospitality, supply chain, and customer experience.
This role is responsible for ensuring that data is structured, accessible, and aligned with business goals to enable advanced analytics, AI/ML initiatives, and real-time decision-making. Working cross-functionally with engineering, data governance, and business teams, vendor partners, the Data Architect plays a critical role in building a modern data ecosystem that enables innovation, enhances operational efficiency, and delivers seamless customer experiences.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:
Be a key contributor to the Architecture peer group, collaborating with other Data Architects and Enterprise Architects (EA) to support Endeavour Group’s strategy and roadmap.
Partner with SI partners, internal teams, and platform groups to establish and enforce standards, contributing to the development of guidelines focused on applications and products within D&AI’s scope for migration. Ensure all initiatives align with the overarching Enterprise Architecture to maintain consistency and support strategic goals.
Review, assess, and govern solution designs to ensure they adhere to architecture principles and best practices throughout the migration lifecycle, ensuring smooth transitions and integration of data systems.
Diagnose and resolve architectural challenges, addressing technical or operational issues that arise during the transition to the new architecture.
Act autonomously to manage and resolve issues or deviations from established standards, ensuring alignment with project goals and architecture guidelines.
Collaborate with Data Governance, Cybersecurity, Platform teams, and Risk and Portfolio Offices to implement engagement processes, track issues identified during assessments, and ensure they are properly documented in project and risk registers related to the various artefacts.
Support the adoption of the target-state architecture by executing strategies for data systems, ensuring alignment with long-term enterprise goals and objectives.
Ensure alignment with architecture standards and principles, promoting consistency in solution decisions across the enterprise and ensuring seamless integration with target architectures.
Now let’s talk about you:
Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant industry certifications (i.e. TOGAF)
Proven experience in a Data Architect role, experience gained within large, complex Master Data Management programs
Proven experience working in complex enterprise transformation programs
Previous experience working within Retail is highly regarded
Experience in data/information management, analytics, ML, and/or data services solutions
Strong business analysis and stakeholder engagement skills
Understand and adhere to data governance policies and privacy regulations, ensuring consistent compliance
Exceptional communication skills coupled with an ability to negotiate and influence
Proven ability to consult and provide advice to internal stakeholders
Experience in the development of architectures and data models for complex systems (conceptual, logical and physical)
Solid understanding in database design, including conceptualisation to database optimisation
Knowledge of data migration and engineering
Strong understanding of database design, including conceptualization to database optimization
Knowledge of data migration and engineering patterns over on-premise source systems and cloud-hosted platforms
Excellent understanding of relational database technologies (SQL Server, Aurion, DB2, etc.) and cloud analytics (GCP, Azure, AWS)
Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments, with knowledge of CI-CD tools
Direct experience with GCP and Azure Cloud
