Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
The Role
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Creative Strategy Lead to join our Creative team, focused on our Food & Beverage audience. You will develop and implement campaign, creative, and brand strategies for our Food and Beverage Creative team, ensuring compelling creative output across all Food & Beverage efforts. This role involves an in-depth understanding of food and beverage businesses, and close collaboration with the marketing, creative, and product teams to increase brand growth, awareness, and engagement for the Food & Beverage audience. You will report into the Head of Creative Strategy at Square, sitting embedded within the Square Creative organization.
You Will:

  • Develop and brief campaigns and larger GTM efforts
    • Create detailed creative briefs for marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand messaging and integrated marketing briefs.
    • Partner with the creative team to bring creative concepts and campaigns to life; constantly guide the team throughout development on messaging and aligning to overall strategy.
  • Develop in-depth audience and cultural insights
    • In partnership with the research team, conduct seller and market research to gather valuable insights into target audience behaviors, needs, and preferences.
  • Drive high quality creative work
    • Provide strategic direction and feedback to the creative and marketing teams to enhance the quality and impact of marketing programs.
  • Serve as a necessary liaison between Marketing and Creative
    • Play a role as "creative interpreter" between marketing and creative, alongside creative leadership.

You Have

  • 12+ years of creative and/or brand strategy experience, MUST have both agency side and in-house experience, with a bachelor's degree.
  • Seniority in the strategic space - You should be a senior expert in the strategy space, able to navigate projects as a key leader on the Food & Beverage Creative team.
  • Deep love and obsession with culture and how it impacts brands, creativity, and businesses of all sizes.
  • Ability to guide, foster, and shape creative work. You should identify as that strategist that creatives consistently turn to to answer the hard problems - and someone who knows the most important part of their job is enabling amazing creativity.
  • Strong storytelling skills - You are an expert at taking in large amounts of information and summarizing it down to its simplest parts - and building a compelling story out of it all.
  • Strong influence - You are an expert at communicating with senior leadership, to drive shifts in overall brand and product strategy.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
