Company Description

Hospitals make big decisions on gut feel more often than they'd like to admit. CBS exists to change that. We build the costing and business intelligence tools that give healthcare managers across New Zealand, Australia and beyond a clear, accurate picture of what things actually cost, so they can make better calls with real numbers instead of guesswork.

Job Description

We're after a Costing Analyst to join our Australian team, based in Melbourne. You'll dig into a client's costing data, ask the right questions, and turn a pile of numbers into a costing model and a set of dashboards that actually mean something to the people running the hospital. You'll get hands-on with CBS's own tools (CostPro, IntelPlus and FocusPro), work directly with clients, and occasionally take that expertise on the road to our Middle East clients.

This role isn't about ticking boxes. It's about the kind of mind that can't leave a number alone until it makes sense.

Qualifications

You'll fit right in if you've got:

  • A tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, Accounting or a related business or healthcare discipline.
  • A logical, curious mind that likes pulling a problem apart to see how it works, this matters more than any single line on your CV.
  • Comfort operating across multiple computer systems and BI tools (e.g. SQL Server, Power BI, Sisense), and confidence learning new software
  • No fear of learning new systems or software.
  • A genuine interest in healthcare, even if you've never worked in it
  • Bonus points if you know activity-based costing.

Additional Information

At CBS New Zealand, we're not just building software—we're transforming the way healthcare organisations understand costs, improve performance, and deliver better patient outcomes. Our innovative solutions are trusted by hospitals across New Zealand, Australia, and beyond, empowering better decisions through world-class patient costing, billing, and business intelligence.

If you're passionate about solving complex problems, thrive in a collaborative environment, and want your work to make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you. Join a team of talented innovators where your ideas matter, your growth is supported, and your work has a lasting impact on healthcare.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
