The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Corporate Paralegal who would be capable in performing the following:

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for reviewing, tracking, and monitoring legislation that impacts the company’s products and/or processes.
  • Updating leadership with timely analysis and summaries of new legislation/regulations affecting the business.
  • Assists in implementing changes to contracts to comply with legislation/regulations.
  • Management of our real estate matters – reviewing leases and preparing Deeds of Make Good
  • Supporting the review of software licences agreement
  • Responsible for review of client NDAs and providing advice to the business in relation to the key obligations
  • Providing a first review of our low value tender opportunities
  • Responsible for support related to litigation, mediation, arbitration, and responses to complaints.
  • Assisting our company secretary with all company filings and maintaining company licensing.
  • Assisting with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and export controls.
  • Liaising with the KBR’s external legal advisors and other stakeholders as required and as well as other KBR staff internationally.
  • Collaborating with the legal team on operational matters and participate in key industry initiatives.

Experience & Skills

  • A paralegal with at least 4 years’ experience in private practice or in-house.  Preference given to paralegals with a certificate or diploma in Paralegal Studies.
  • Legal knowledge: A strong grasp of legal terminology and rules of legal procedure are essential
  • Organisational skills: You’ll often be managing multiple tasks, so being highly organised is crucial.
  • Communication skills: You'll interact with internal business clients, other lawyers within the team and external lawyers.  Being articulate and clear in your communication is vital.
  • Company secretary: you will assist with our company secretary with all company filings, preparing documentation and ensuring compliance so knowledge of this is advantageous.
  • An ability to work autonomously and also work alongside and support experienced senior lawyers
  • Must be a team player
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Additional Requirements

  • Background Check required
  • Must be an Australian Citizen
  • Able to obtain an AGSVA Security Clearance if required
