About the role 
 

We’re seeking a Corporate Counsel, Workplace Legal to provide expert legal advice and support on workforce-related matters, ensuring compliance in relation to Transurban’s direct and indirect workforce. This role is crucial in the delivery of timely legal advice and support in relation to workplace relations and employment law matters, as well as employment-related litigation. 

 

You’ll be working in a dynamic, innovative and collaborative team, committed to fostering a lawful, ethical, and responsible workplace culture. This role involves close collaboration with both the People and Culture (P&C) and Legal functions, acting as a trusted adviser on workplace legal matters.

Day-to-day, you will: 

  • Offer legal advice and support in relation to matters concerning Transurban’s direct and indirect workforce. 
  • Provide legal advice on workplace relations cases. 
  • Advise on compliance and conduct matters effectively. 
  • Oversee employment-related litigation, including Fair Work Commission and Federal Court proceedings and liaising with external legal firms/counsel. 
  • Handle workforce matters related to acquisitions, mergers, and divestments. 
  • Use initiative and judgment to advise on P&C plans, policies, and practices, maintaining confidentiality and integrity. 
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders. 
  • Engage with external stakeholders including regulators, unions, legal firms, advisors, and consultancies. 

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including: 

  • Post-qualification experience within a law firm or relevant corporate sector experience. 
  • Experience in advising on modern awards and enterprise agreements, including enterprise agreement negotiations. 
  • Ability to command respect and exude trust, integrity, and credibility. 
  • Ability to synthesize learnings and solve complex problems. 
  • Proven ability to use subject matter expertise effectively. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop value-added solutions to complex workplace issues. 
  • Personable and approachable, with well-developed interpersonal skills. 
  • Highly developed and effective communication and presentation skills. 
  • Degree qualification (Law).
