IN A NUTSHELL...

At Bellroy, we geek out (unashamedly) on performance and technology, but balance it out by embracing the beauty of design, the good in humanity and what the surf is doing. We have stories – inspired by interesting humans, insights and a-ha moments – to tell, and we’re looking for a copywriter to help us tell them.

You’ll work in our Creative Team to concept email ideas, craft in-store signage, charm our social community, create click-worthy ads, spark brainstorms and much more. You would practice your perspectives to put yourself in our customers’ shoes and speak directly about the things they care about. And you’ll work with our marketing and product teams to bring product releases or seasonal campaigns to life with flair.

If you’re a curious being with a conceptual brain and a commanding way with words, we’d love to hear from you.

YOU COULD BE THE ONE IF YOU...
  • Are a mid-weight copywriter with at least 3 years of experience
  • Are calibrated on consumer brands and like to dive deep on how products work (experience with carry and softgoods would hold you in good stead - pardon the pun)
  • Ask questions. A lot of questions. You aren’t afraid to ask “why?” as many times as it takes to get to the heart of things
  • Have a decent understanding of SEO and UX practices, a deep understanding of human behaviour, and strong-as-hell motivation to find the phrase no other brand has used before
  • Are comfortable throwing ideas at the wall, and encouraging others to think outside the box
  • Know just what it means to make every. single. word. count.

IF YOU WERE HERE LAST WEEK, YOU MIGHT HAVE...
  • Written product page copy that delivers the guts of what that product can do, who it's for, and how our global audience may best understand it (in their native language)
  • Worked with the social media team to plan upcoming content, brainstorm ideas, then written some captions to match
  • Written a bunch of ad headlines for an evergreen travel campaign
  • Answered a carry die-hard’s question on Reddit with a thoughtful, informative response
  • Written three script concepts for an upcoming video ad campaign
  • Internally questioned the temptation of using superlatives to describe a product, and worked hard to find some tangible proof points to get the message across instead
  • Reviewed and approved search ad copy for the digital marketing team.

READY TO APPLY?

Have a good look around our website, read our story and get a feel for who we are. If you think you’d be a good fit, please submit your CV and a cover letter, alongside your answers to the questions below.

  1. Who’s your brand crush (we don’t count) and why?
  2. Can you share a piece of copy you’ve read recently that stopped you in your tracks?

LOCATION & HOURS

This is a full-time role based at our Collingwood office in Melbourne, with hybrid working arrangements.

Start date: We're ready when you are!

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
