Job Description

Team Summary

Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) drives tangible, impactful and financial results for Visa's clients, including card issuers, acquirers, and merchants. Drawing on our expertise in strategy consulting, data analytics, brand management, marketing, operations and macroeconomics, VCA solves the most strategic problems for our clients.

The VCA team within Japan provides a comprehensive range of consulting services and solutions to our clients in Japan, that address unique challenges in areas such as strategic growth, profitability, risk management and digital strategy.

VCA Managed Services members play a key role in enhancing the partnership with one of Visa Japan’s largest clients by supporting strategic planning and implementation of their most strategic initiatives.

What a Director, VCA Managed Services does at Visa:

We are currently looking for a Director to lead consulting engagements and Visa solution sell-in for one of our largest clients in Japan, supporting strategy and new business development in their issuing business. The Director will lead consulting projects, drive Visa solutions sell-in and serve as the main point of contact for their issuing business, coordinating between client teams, junior team members, internal local/global stakeholders, and external partners as necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive initiative development to support client’s issuing business growth by using Visa solutions and strategic consulting methodologies, such as setting key questions, formulating hypotheses, conducting deep quantitative analyses, and synthesizing strategic recommendations in alignment with internal stakeholders. Example areas of support include:

    • New issuing business strategy development and execution support

    • New product, business, or customer journey design, development, and enablement

    • Sell-in of new Visa solutions and system PMO (from business requirements definition to implementation support), collaborating with cross-functional teams in both English and Japanese

  • Build and manage strong relationships with client executives, general managers, and key stakeholders to deepen partnerships and ensure client satisfaction.

  • Ensure high-quality project delivery by leveraging consulting and/or product management skills, managing teams of diverse subject matter experts, including data scientists, product specialists, and client service representatives in Japan and overseas.

  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members, supporting their professional growth and maintaining high standards for project deliverables.

  • Continuously build knowledge, uncover new insights, and produce thought leadership materials to support practice development and promote global best practices.

  • Oversee project setup and administrative processes, including contracting, internal reporting, and compliance procedures to ensure smooth project execution.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

You will bring a breadth of professional experience and a strong curiosity about the payments industry, eager to deepen your expertise by working alongside an experienced team. You are client-focused and comfortably managing projects end-to-end, enjoy the opportunity to work closely with clients and help shape their future success.

Specific skills and experience required:

-Fluent Japanese and business-level proficiency in English
-12+ years of high-performance experience in strategy consulting, product management or project management
-Proven track record managing complex, cross-functional, and cross-regional projects
-Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual rigor
-Strong team orientation with a collaborative, diplomatic, and adaptable style: effective in a matrixed organization
-Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring the highest quality and rigor in reports and data analysis
-Excellent presentation skills, with strong oral and written communication abilities
-Self-motivated and results-driven, adept at managing multiple priorities simultaneously
-Flexible mindset with resilience, able to adjust plans and scope while effectively managing client expectations
-Strong commercial acumen, with experience developing business cases and demonstrating proven ROI
-Passion for analytics and its power to inform strategy and tactics, with a proven ability to generate actionable insights from data
-Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire team members toward high performance

Preferred Qualifications
-Experience in the payments, banking, or technology sectors: deep understanding of the issuing business is highly desirable
-Experience in customer experience design, particularly utilizing human-centered design or design thinking methodologies
-Familiarity with statistical analysis, modeling, and scoring schemes
-Demonstrated experience managing and developing teams, including performance management and coaching
