About the role
We have multiple opportunities for Communications Engineers to join our Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) domain. Here you will contribute to the delivery of specialist radiocommunications and spectrum engineering services across Defence and government programs.

Working in a consulting environment, you will apply your expertise in radiofrequency propagation, telecommunications systems, and the RF spectrum environment to support engineering analysis, technical studies and capability development activities across a range of client engagements.

These roles offer the opportunity to work on complex communications and spectrum challenges in mission-critical environments. Initial work may include supporting communications capability development and network design and optimisation activities for critical communications systems; alongside broader EMS engineering work delivered through Nova’s Specialist Services program.

Note - these roles are primarily based in either Adelaide or Canberra, with the potential for one role to be based in New Zealand on an 18-month maximum term engagement.

What you’ll be involved with

  • Developing engineering models and technical analysis to support communications and electromagnetic spectrum capabilities

  • Conducting specialist engineering activities across EMS research, technical studies and capability development

  • Supporting the development and review of engineering artefacts and technical documentation

  • Providing engineering advice on deliverables produced by industry and government stakeholders

  • Contributing to communications capability design and optimisation activities within mission-critical environments

What we would like from you

  • Degree qualifications in either Radiocommunications, Electrical, Electronic or Telecommunications engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.

  • Strong knowledge of electromagnetic spectrum operations, communications engineering or RF spectrum environments

  • Experience contributing to engineering analysis, technical studies or engineering artefact development

  • Exposure to Defence, government or mission-critical communications environments will be highly regarded

  • Familiarity with electronic warfare systems, spectrum management or related RF technologies will be advantageous

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical stakeholders

  • Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain an NV2 AGSVA security clearance. Nova Systems will sponsor the clearance process for suitable candidates

We recognise that strong candidates may not meet every requirement listed above. If your experience aligns with communications engineering, RF systems or the electromagnetic spectrum environment, we encourage you to apply.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
