The Opportunity:

We are seeking a skilled Communications Engineer to join our dynamic team responsible for sustaining and advancing critical communication systems. This role involves complex engineering activities focused on radio frequency communications, including investigation, analysis, and technical support throughout the product lifecycle.

You will work collaboratively with engineers and technicians, engage with diverse stakeholders, and contribute to safety, risk assessments, and compliance documentation. The position requires independent judgment, initiative, and the ability to provide expert advice on technical and strategic matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex communications engineering tasks and provide expert advice.
  • Manage engineering risks and apply advanced engineering principles.
  • Review and assess technical designs, specifications, and safety documentation.
  • Engage with stakeholders to address technical issues and deliver solutions.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers within the team.
  • Prepare and manage work plans, resources, and project milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislative, policy, and safety frameworks.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in RF Communications, Systems Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (or equivalent) with demonstrated experience in electrical or communications engineering.
  • Proven expertise in radio frequency communications engineering, including advanced technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in safety case development, risk assessments, and hazard management.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor messages for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience in managing complex engineering projects.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and mentoring others.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
