Job Description

As Commercial Manager, you will lead the end‑to‑end commercial management of panel contracts, driving value for money, performance excellence and strong contractor relationships.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage commercial and contractual aspects of panel contracts across the full lifecycle, ensuring compliance with contractual, legislative and governance requirements.
  • Drive value for money through robust performance monitoring, efficiency initiatives and continuous improvement.
  • Establish, monitor and report on contractor performance, including cost, quality, productivity and delivery against agreed KPIs.
  • Provide commercial oversight and quality assurance to ensure contract outputs meet required standards and specifications.
  • Identify, assess and manage commercial and contractual risks, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Interpret contract conditions and provide advice on variations, claims, disputes and commercial matters.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with panel contractors and internal stakeholders to support planning, delivery and issue resolution.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong commercial acumen and experience managing complex contracts in an infrastructure or asset‑intensive environment.

You will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in commercial or contract management, ideally within infrastructure, construction or public sector environments.
  • Strong knowledge of contract administration, risk management and performance assurance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to drive value for money and continuous improvement through data‑driven performance management.
  • Experience interpreting complex contracts and advising on variations, claims and dispute resolution.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical, reporting and governance capabilities, including experience reporting to senior leadership or steering committees.
  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, business, law, engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
