The Commercial Leader – Bioprocessing is responsible for the commercial success of the Bioprocessing division within Cytiva. This includes developing and deploying strategies, mentoring and leading cross-functional teams, and engaging with and supporting customers across Australia and New Zealand. Additionally, the Commercial Leader will drive Cytiva’s Strategic Partnerships and Collaborations within the region.

The Bioprocessing Commercial Team at Cytiva provides comprehensive, end-to-end bioprocessing solutions and services to support customers from discovery to delivery. The team is dedicated to helping clients adapt to changing market conditions with innovative technologies and solutions across various bioprocessing applications. Whether it involves developing a process for monoclonal antibody (mAbs), mAb variant, or antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) manufacturing, producing a vaccine, or enhancing existing biomanufacturing processes to make it more efficient, the Bioprocessing Commercial Team is committed to supporting customers every step of the way.

This position reports to the General Manager – Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) and is part of the wider commercial organisation and leadership team in ANZ. This role will also have dotted line reporting into the Asia Pacific General Manager for Bioprocessing.

This role is to be located in Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne (onsite in Sydney or Melbourne; remote in Brisbane).

What you will do:

  • Financial Reporting and Demand Planning: Oversee financial reporting and demand planning for the Bioprocessing business divisions
  • Growth and Expansion: Drive the growth and expansion of direct and indirect sales revenues and profit margins
  • Applied Market and Product Expertise: Understand and analyse market and competitive dynamics; develop commercial strategies and plans that capitalize on growth opportunities. Develop and execute a new customer acquisition strategy.
  • Talent Management: Attract, retain, coach, and develop world-class commercial and technical talent to execute the product commercial strategy.  Ensure that the Commercial team continuously enhances their technical knowledge and commercial capabilities to best support our customers.
  • Customer Relations: Build and manage professional relationships with key customers in biotech, translational medicine, and academia to ensure a deep understanding of their needs.
  • New Product Introduction: Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, and Product Management to ensure the successful launch of new products.
  • Internal Collaboration: Secure support from internal functional teams (e.g., Customer Service, Commercial Partners, Instrument Service) and collaborate with the Bioprocess business divisions team to grow the business.

Who you are:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline required. Advanced degrees and/or formal business training preferred.
  • Market Expertise: Strong understanding of the Bioprocessing market segments, including but not limited to monoclonal antibody (mAbs), mAb variant, antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) manufacturing, vaccine production and precision fermentation.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of commercial experience in life sciences/biologics, with at least 3 years of team management experience.
  • Business & Commercial Management: Demonstrated skills in business management and resource allocation, including business plan development. Proficiency in implementing effective use of funnel management and the Danaher Business System (or similar).
  • Communication Skills: High-level presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and present ideas effectively to build strategic relationships.
  • Global Collaboration: Experience working with overseas leadership, providing visibility on local market analysis, and enlisting global and APAC support for local business needs.
  • Leadership Capability: Ability to energize, develop, build rapport, collaborate, and influence at all levels within an organization.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to travel – up to 50% of time, both domestic and international travel
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
