Job Description
The CMBS business within the Securitized Products Group ("SPG") originates fixed and floating rate commercial real estate loans and securitizes them on a principal basis in fixed rate conduit CMBS and fixed and floating rate single asset/single borrower ("SASB\") CMBS. The group works with a diverse range of clients including private equity and real estate debt funds, real estate investment trusts, hedge funds and sophisticated, high net worth individual investors.
The CMBS Capital Markets team oversees the securitization, rating, structure and primary distribution of new issuance agency and non agency (private label) CMBS, CRE CLO and other CRE backed transactions executed in both principal and agented capacities.
As an Analyst within the CMBS Capital Markets team, you will gain extensive exposure to the entire U.S. commercial real estate sector and interface with participants and stakeholders in various aspects of the industry and securitization process.
Job Responsibilities:
- Interfacing with J.P. Morgan's commercial mortgage origination team, CMBS trading desk, external legal counsel, rating agencies, accountants and investors in order to manage the securitization process
- Reviewing loan documentation and due diligence to prepare transaction data tapes and summary term sheets
- Analyzing underlying mortgages and real estate properties in conjunction with the execution of CMBS and CLOs
- Marketing primary issuance fixed rate, floating rate, NPL and CLO securitizations to potential investors
- Working with a variety of clients (financial institutions, REITs, private equity funds and hedge funds) to execute bespoke commercial real estate securitizations on a principal or agented basis
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- 1+ years of experience in structured finance, processing MBS/CMBS transactions
- Bachelor's degree or higher, ideally in a finance-related field of study such as Economics, Finance, Engineering or Mathematics.
- Firm understanding of the principles of finance, business operations, and mathematical and/or statistical modeling.
- Ability to collect and analyze large amounts of market information, extract its essence and incorporate the findings into valuation models and processes.
- Strong user of widely used technical tools such as Excel and PowerPoint;
- Creative problem solver with ability to perform well under pressure.
- Clear, logical thinker with strong quantitative abilities.
- Detail oriented, with a highly disciplined approach to process and quality control.
- Ability to learn quickly, multi-task and self-manage priorities.
- Effective communication skills to interact functional partners, clients and rating agencies
- Strong team player
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:
- Prior capital markets experience in CMBS (Conduit, SASB, CRE CLO) deal execution
- Experience with Intex, Bloomberg, CoStar or other fixed income analytical tools
