About Relectrify

Relectrify is a Melbourne-based deep-tech company redefining how batteries connect to everything they power. Its CellSwitch® platform is an open architecture that works with any cell, built on more than 150 patents and roughly ten years of platform R&D, and backed by strategic investors including Toyota, EDP, NRG Energy, GS and Australia's Clean Energy Finance Corporation. The team is around 60 people today.

The first product, the AC1, is designed for Commercial and Industrial (C&I) battery energy storage. It is now shipping, with ~A$45M of revenue expected across 2026-27 into a market we size at over A$25B/yr by 2030. The same platform reaches into other sectors: AI data centres, powertrains for electric vehicles, and grid-connected solid-state transformers. Deciding which of these markets to commit to, when, and in what order is the strategic problem at the centre of this role.

The role

The Chief of Staff is a direct extension of the CEO, a strategy and business-building partner, not an administrative one. You will help shape company strategy, keep the organisation moving on its highest priorities, and own the Market Development function: finding and qualifying where the platform should go next. You will lead a small team, work daily with the executive and functional leads, and take ambiguous, cross-cutting problems that don't yet belong to anyone and drive them to a decision.

What you'll do

Strategy and Market Development

  • Own Market Development: keep a prioritised pipeline of new applications beyond the committed markets; scan adjacent sectors such as Defence, Mining, Robotics and Aviation; qualify the strongest candidates technically with the platform team and commercially (market size, economics, business case); and bring clear go/no-go recommendations to the executive for commitment.
  • Turn strategy into progress: translate the CEO's and board's strategy into a prioritised, tracked set of initiatives, and run the operating cadence that keeps them on course.
  • Be the CEO's thought partner: take the hardest, most ambiguous decisions, structure them, do the analysis, and land a recommendation.

Board, investors and the Series B

  • Build board and investor materials, run point on parts of future fundraising rounds (narrative, data room, diligence) and keep the company's strategy and valuation models current.

Execution across the company

  • Drive cross-functional initiatives to completion, clear blockers, and hold teams accountable to what they've committed to; sharpen how the company plans and makes decisions as it scales.
What success looks like (first 6 to 12 months)
  • A prioritised Market Development pipeline is in place, and one or two opportunities have been qualified through to a clear go/no-go decision at the executive level.
  • The leadership team is running on a clear operating cadence, with visible progress on the top priorities.
  • Series B fundraising materials and process are well-run and materially advanced.
  • The CEO is spending materially more time on the highest-value work.
Where it leads

This role carries an unusual upside: the markets you qualify can become businesses you go on to run. A natural next step is to lead a new market stream you helped create, or to take a senior strategy or corporate-development role as the company scales through Series B and beyond.

RequirementsAbout you

Applicants must have full working rights in Australia and be willing to undergo pre-employment background checks (working rights, criminal history, and reference checks).

Who we're looking for

  • MBA from a top-tier business school, with [4 to 8] years' experience, ideally management consulting, corporate strategy or development, or venture / growth investing.
  • Strong structured problem-solving and financial modelling: can size a market, test the economics, and build a business case that stands up.
  • Curiosity and range to get up to speed on unfamiliar sectors fast, and the judgement to kill weak opportunities early.
  • Credible with deep-tech engineers on questions of platform fit and feasibility (domain knowledge welcome, not required).
  • Board-grade writing and communication; high ownership; comfortable working without a fixed playbook.
  • Sound judgement and discretion with confidential strategic, financial and board matters.

Benefits

Competitive salary and meaningful equity upside, a direct working relationship with the CEO, and real ownership of where the platform goes next. Plus:

  • Flexible work arrangements
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Gender-neutral paid parental, personal/carer’s leave of absence
  • Purchased leave scheme
  • Salary sacrifice for superannuation
  • Education reimbursement
  • No-cost commuting
  • Free snacks and (actually good!) coffee
  • Team events and monthly socials

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
