About the Role 🤔
We're on the lookout for a Product Category Manager who will be responsible for driving the performance and evolution of the Drive product portfolio, with a focus on pickups, SUVS and 4x4/overlanding, from concept through commercialisation to drive incremental and profitable sales growth.
This role will collaborate closely with key cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Finance, and Operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of both internal and external market and sales trends, and will play a leading role in shaping innovative, high-impact go-to-market strategies.
What You'll Do 🏎️
Strategic Plan Development:
- Monitor and analyse market trends and recommend new products and business opportunities
- Develop competitive briefs highlighting the implications of findings and recommended actions
- Own product positioning, pricing, assortment and channel strategies for the portfolio
- Contribute to the development of the budget and 3-year objectives, strategies, and metrics
- Partner with Product Development to ensure alignment on resources and priorities
- Report on sales monthly and quarterly to track the execution of strategic plans and budgets
Market Plan Execution:
- Deliver annual targets and contingency plans for shortfalls
- Lead product/key initiatives/new product launches throughout the organisation
- Participate in the development of marketing material for digital, trade marketing and content
- Support execution at key trade shows and sales meetings
- Drive assortment, pricing, merchandising, and display strategies with sales and trade marketing
- Collaborate with Demand Planning on forecasts through S&OP, including product lifecycle management
- Develop and recommend sales promotions by working with Sales and Marketing
- Develop, recommend and deliver product training/communication to sales and trade partners
Consumer Knowledge & Support:
- Own business and consumer analysis and tracking for product group and/or initiative
- Contribute to understanding of target consumers' needs & motivations
- Help identify meaningful consumer insights and actions; recommend action plans
- Support customer service and warranty teams with inquiries
Innovation:
- Qualify and recommend business-building product concepts and a 3-year innovation pipeline
- Lead new product development planning, including specs, profitability, market feedback, and launch strategy
- Support phase approvals and delivery of initiatives through Quad Lock’s stage gate process
- Develop and secure approval for packaging design and artwork briefs
Capability:
- Recommend and implement improved processes
- Collaborate and share learning across cross-functional teams
- Partner with others to share and reapply products, strategies and best practices
What You'll Bring 🤝
- Proven experience in category/product management (experience in the automotive, 4x4/overlanding industry preferred)
- Collaboration with PM/New Product Development Teams (NPD)
- Engineering, product design experience (helpful)
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and decision-making
- Experience with all facets of product management and NPD
- Strong analytical skills
- Highly organised and detail-oriented
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical, Marketing or Commerce field
