Job Description

  • Fixed Term opportunity until October 2026

As the Category Insights Specialist, build understanding of customer behaviour and needs across Endeavour Group (particularly Merchandising/Buying) through the analysis of data, identification of actionable insights and development of strategy that delivers improved customer experiences and sustainable category growth.

Utilising a range of data sources such as panel, transaction and qualitative you will utilise your analytical and storytelling skills to help identify both short and long term category opportunities of today and help shape the category strategies for tomorrow.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

  • Ensure the customer is at the centre of decision making within Endeavour Group through the provision of compelling data-led insights.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders in merchandise and marketing to address customer challenges and stay ahead in the evolving Liquor retail landscape and co-develop category strategy.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to stakeholders on optimising customer experience and driving innovation within the Liquor category across range, experience, innovation and other category based initiatives.
  • Use data to explain business performance, identify challenges and opportunities and provide recommendations to drive growth.
  • Contribute to Monthly and Quarterly Reporting.
  • Work with teams outside of Merchandising (e.g. Format Development, EDX, Customer Insights, BWS and Dan Murphy’s, etc) to deliver insights that inform business processes and deliver consistency of insight across the business. (e.g. retail brand reporting, new store insights, trade planning, etc.)
  • Understand the impact of macro trends on customer behaviour and predict customer trends in drinks.
  • Foster a culture of continual improvement within a high performance team.

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you: 

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills gained through a minimum of 3 years experience in previous analytical roles - e.g. previous retail and/or supplier category analytics role.
  • Degree qualified in business or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience using sales and customer data sets (Qual. & Quant) - e.g. Quantium Checkout, Nielsen, Circana, U&As etc.
  • Ability to tell stories with data and engage others through data visualisation.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Confident communicator (verbal and written).
  • Strong aptitude and curiosity for problem solving.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Previous Drinks industry experience, desirable.
  • Understanding of category management and buying principles - e.g. shelf management, merchandising, ranging, promotional and pricing strategies, desirable.
