We are currently seeking an entry-level Buyer to join our advanced manufacturing site located in Port Melbourne on a full-time permanent basis. This is an excellent development opportunity for someone that has an interest in building a long-term career in Procurement where you will be well supported and coached by seasoned Buyers in the team. This position is based 100% onsite.

As a Buyer, you will be trained in managing Boeing’s inventory through the effective use of purchasing systems and procedures on small to medium work statements. This is a fast-paced role where you will communicate regularly with internal departments and engage with a wide range of suppliers, both domestic and international.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing a portfolio of domestic and international suppliers to support Operations
  • Participate in the end-to-end procurement process
  • Negotiate with suppliers ensuring compliance with all applicable company requirements, regulations and report supplier performance, risks, issues and opportunities
  • Build networks and connections with our key internal and external stakeholders including international customers
  • Be involved in value chain analysis and value engineering activities to deliver productivity improvements, cost efficiency savings to improve supply chain performance
  • Support the Procurement Manager in the development of continuous improvement programs

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):

  • A keen interest in developing a long-term career in Procurement
  • Previous IBL / Internship / Work Placement experience in Procurement / Supply Chain would be advantageous
  • SAP or similar ERP system knowledge and experience is advantageous although not essential
  • You are highly organized, self-motivated and process driven
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to quickly develop strong working relationships and influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Flexibility to adapt in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Please note that applicants must have full time, unrestricted working rights for Australia.  
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain Management or relative discipline is preferred although not essential

Additional Information:

This is an EBA position and classified as an Aerospace Technician 1A.  The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment checks and a 3-month probationary period.

The Boeing Aerostructures Australia (BAA) supply chain and fulfilment team support both direct and indirect procurement for the BAA site.
We manage over 50 direct suppliers and a range of commodities including metallics, plastics, seals, composites and raw materials. With over 250 indirect suppliers responsible for supporting all the factory requirements including Operations, Facilities, HR, Quality, Environmental Health and Services as well as IT. Our team ensures orders are raised on time, received on time and the supplier is managed against all key deliverables including: safety, quality, delivery, cost and innovation.
BAA has a well-integrated global supply chain with suppliers located in Asia, Europe, the USA and of course Australia. Our warehouse is home to over 10,000 part numbers which are received, put away and kitted to support the production line.
