Company Description

Bilue is a digital consultancy that designs and builds smart, user-friendly technology for some of Australia’s most well-known businesses. From mobile apps to beautifully designed web platforms and digital experiences, we create solutions that drive impact and deliver exceptional customer outcomes.

Our culture is people-first and purpose-driven. We’re a down-to-earth, values-led team with offices in Sydney and Melbourne, and a growing presence in Manila. We genuinely enjoy working together, whether we’re solving tough tech problems, brainstorming creative solutions, or grabbing a coffee between meetings. Curiosity is encouraged. Collaboration is second nature.

We value excellence, not ego, and back each other to do great work without micromanagement. With low politics and high trust, it’s a place where delivery people, designers, and engineers genuinely connect, and where everyone has a voice, space to grow, and a little fun along the way.

Job Description

The Sales team at Bilue is responsible for seeking and winning work that drives our growth, excites our people, and creates meaningful impact at scale.

As a Business Development Manager (BDM), you’ll play a critical role in opening doors across a range of clients and market sectors. You are tenacious, personable, and well-connected, with a strong ability to build long-term relationships and leverage the expertise of your Bilue colleagues to propel client conversations and facilitate bringing the right people together to close deals. You bring a proven track record of meeting sales targets and are responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to help grow Bilue’s customer base.

You'll play a key role in driving revenue growth by effectively communicating the value proposition of Bilue’s services, building strong relationships with potential clients, and negotiating commercial outcomes that work for both parties. You’ll support the expansion of our client accounts, partnering with some of Australia’s most well-known and loved brands. The role offers exciting earning opportunities through our uncapped commission structure, along with the chance to flourish in a growing business.

Responsibilities

  • Identify new business opportunities
Proactively explore new clients, sectors, and problems Bilue can solve, using market insight and relationship-led discovery.

  • Build and maintain client relationships
Develop trusted relationships with prospective clients by understanding their challenges, goals, and decision-making context.

  • Create and execute sales strategies
Shape and deliver sales approaches that align with Bilue’s growth priorities, focusing effort on the opportunities most likely to convert.

  • Pitch and position Bilue
Lead compelling, well-coordinated responses to opportunities that clearly articulate Bilue’s value and differentiate our offering.

  • Negotiate contracts and close deals
Guide commercial discussions with confidence and care, balancing strong outcomes for Bilue with long-term client partnerships.

  • Collaborate across the business
Bring together the right people from across Bilue to progress opportunities and ensure a smooth transition from sale to delivery.

  • Manage the sales pipeline
Maintain clear visibility of opportunities, momentum, and risks, using disciplined pipeline management to support forecasting and delivery.

  • Grow existing client accounts
Deepen relationships with existing clients by identifying follow-on opportunities and supporting referrals through great experiences.

  • Report on sales performance
Share clear, accurate insights on pipeline health and progress against targets to support decision-making and planning.

Qualifications

We recognise that great BDMs come from a wide range of backgrounds. What matters most to us is your commercial mindset, communication skills, technical understanding, and attitude.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have a firm understanding of technology and digital products, in particular software design and development (at a level you can hold a technical conversation fluently) to identify new business opportunities and position Bilue as a thought leader

  • Be determined and persistent in pursuing new business opportunities, and not afraid of rejection, having the drive to keep going even when faced with obstacles

  • Be personable, outgoing, and able to build rapport with potential clients, communicating effectively and establishing strong relationships with people at all levels

  • Have a strategic mindset, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities that align with the company's goals and objectives, with a clear understanding of the market and the competition

  • Have a history of achieving results and meeting sales targets, setting clear goals and developing effective plans to achieve them

  • Be able to think on your feet and come up with creative solutions to problems, while adapting to changing circumstances and navigating complex sales processes

  • Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritising your workload effectively and staying organised to ensure you are meeting your sales targets

  • Have a strong understanding of business principles and the ability to translate technical concepts into business benefits

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
